This splendid new HOTEL is now open for the reception of company. The establishment was begun, continued, and finish- ed, with the express design of securing to the city of Philadel- phia the desideratum-a house capacious, yet commodious- public, yet private : a Hotel, where men of business might find accommodations suited to their active habits; and where families might enjoy all the comforts of a private, fashionable mansion. How far the proprietor has fulfilled this object, he confidently submits to the opinion of those who may please to honour THE WASHINGTON HOUSE with a visit.
The situation is one of the most central, in the most fashion- able street in this city. The Public Dining Room, and Pub- lic Parlour for Gentlemen, are on the most extensive scale. BRANDRETH'S VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS.
As numerous counterfeits of the above Pills are attempted to be palmed off upon the community, it becomes my duty to advise the following, in order that the public may guard against deception, that is, never purchase of a Doctor, Druggist, Apothecary, or Pedler; to purchase a pill called Brandreth's, of any of this class of men, is to in- sure the purchaser a base counterfeit, entirely incapable of producing the beneficial results of the genuine medicine. To insure this it must be purchased of the under-mentioned Agents, duly appointed by me, and who hold a regular certificate of agency, which is renewed yearly. There is an agent with one of these certificates in every town in the United States. Those purchasing at wholesale, must remember that all my travellers have a power of attorney, regularly proved to be my act before the clerk of the county of New York.
The following is a list of names of all the AGENTS in the City of Philadelphia and Liberties. To purchase of any in these Districts, not mentioned in this list, will subject the purchaser to sure deception :

LOCOMOTIVE ENGINES.
EASTWICK & HARRISON,
LOCOMOTIVE & STATIONARY ENGINE
MAKERS, AND GENERAL MACHINISTS,
Northwest corner of James & Twelfth Streets,
ON THE WILLOW STREET RAILROAD,
PHILADELPHIA,
Are prepared to receive orders for Machinery in their line, which they will engage to execute with promptness, and in a workmanlike manner.
They would particularly call the attention of Railroad Companies to the improvements they have made in Locomotives, by which either Anthracite Coal or Wood can be used, with perfect facility, in boilers of the ordinary horizontal form. Also, to their eight-wheel Engines, which are admirably adapted to roads having high grades to over- come, and are capable of drawing heavier loads, with less injury to the road, than any other description of Engine of the same weight used in this country.
Satisfactory references can be given as to the power and workman- ship of their Engines, by those who have used them.
