From a report made to the Commissioner in December last, by the Superintendant of the City Watch, it consisted of thirty-one persons, the city lighted by one thousand and forty seven public lamps, which is stated to consume, during the year, eleven thousand six hundred and ten gallons of oil. Their pay is fourteen dollars per month, with the addition of two shillings per lamp ; there is also four Silent Watch, and . the said Superintendant, who alternately see they attend to their duty, &c. the latter has thirty-five dollars per month, and the former twenty.
