Good Intent Fire Hose Company-Instituted March 8th, 1804-Hose house situated in 4th below Chesnut --- Hold their stated meetings at the Resolution Hose house, on the 1st Tuesday evening of every monthi-Officers elected 1st Tuesday in January.


Harmony Fire Company-Instituted 1784. Stated meetings are held on the second Monday in each month, at Harmony Hall, south Fifth below Market.


Hope Hose Company-Hose house north end south Second street market-Meet the first Thursday in every month, at the New Market Hall.


Humane Hose Company-Hose house situate in Vine street between 2d & 3d. Stated meetings first Monday in every month, in the room over the United States en- gine house.


Northern Liberty Fire Company No. 1-Instituted May 1st, 1756. Situated on Pool's Bridge, Northern Liberties, east side.


Pennsylvania Fire Company-Engine house in Fifth below Chesnut, on Philadelphia Library lot.


Perseverance Hose Company-Instituted August 6th, 1805. Hose house north side Race street above Fifth.


Phenix Hose Company-Instituted August 25th, 1817. Stated meetings on the first Thursday in every month. Hose house situated in Zane street, between 7th and 8th.


Resolution Engine Company-Instituted in 1793- The Engine house in Sixth street, under the Shakspeare buildings-President, William G. Govett ; vice-presi- dent, Thomas Morrell ; treasurer, Joseph O. Evans ; secretary, Samuel M. Sykes-Engineers, captain, Thomas Morrell ; lieutenant, Joseph O. Evans ; trea- surer, James M Levan ; secretary, Samuel M. Barring- ton.


Southwark Hose Company-Instituted May 6th, 1806. The stated meetings of the Company are held on the 3d Thursday in each month. Election for offi- cers held at the stated meetings in May and Novem- ber. Hose house, south end south Second street mar- ket.

United States Fire Engine-The Engine house is situated near the junction of 4th street and the Old York road, and between Vine and Callowhill streets- lias a convenient room over it for meeting in, which the company is desirous of renting to Fire Companies, Ar- bitrators, or Societies.


Vigilant Fire Company-Instituted January 2d, 1760. Engine house situated in Race, between Front and 2d.


Washington Fire Company-Instituted January, 1798 -Engine house situated in Spruce street between 9th and 10th. Monthly meetings held at the house of Mrs. Waltman, in Locust above 11th, the first Wednesday evening in every month. Annual election held the first Wednesday in January. President, William P. Smith, esq .; treasurer, Dr. George H. Beamer ; secretary, Charles H. Smith.

Accountant's Society-In the year 1821, a number of gentlemen taking into consideration the difficulties that arise to those who wish to procure accountants of talent and integrity-as well as to those young men who being every way competent and trust-worthy, may wish to obtain clerkships ; did agree to form themselves into a Society, to be called " the Accountants' Society of Penn- sylvania," the objects of which are as follows :


1st. To improve, and be improved in the art of book- keeping .- 2d. To procure clerks and clerkships as aforesaid .- Sd. To help, aid, and assist each other in distress .- 4th. To seminate among the members of this institution a knowledge of such matters and things, re- lating to trade and business, as shall, or may be useful to a complete book-keeper, or an accomplished merchant.


At a meeting of said Society, held November 12th, 1821, the following were elected officers for the year 1822-President, D.
