EXPLANATIONS
AND HOW TO USE THIS BOOK.
This book contains the inscriptions, arranged in alphabetical order, on all the gravestones in twelve cemeteries in the south- west quarter of the town of South Kingstown, in the vicinity of Matunuck, Rhode Island.
The names underlined with red indicate gravestones, and each is followed by the entire inscription on that stone. The names in underlined with black are the other names on atones where there are two or more names.
Names mentioned on the stones as parents or husbands of the deceased, but who have no gravestones there, are listed here and marked "Mentioned." They may or may not be buried in that particular cemetery.
Each married woman is listed under her maiden name, if known, as well as under her married name.
The kind of stone, if other than marble or granite, is mentioned, and also the condition, if broken, lying on ground or effaced.
Items in parenthesis are explanations that have been added. All metal markers of various organizations and flags are noted.
