Formed in November, 1788, from Greenbrier and Montgomery counties.
Bounded as follows : Beginning at the mouth of Great Sandy in the said county of Montgomery, thence up the said river with the line of the said county to the mountain generally known by the name of Cumberland Mountain. thence a north cast course along the said mountain to the Great Kanawha, crossing the sanie at the end of Gawly mountain, thence along the said mountain to the line of Harrison county. thenee with that line to the Ohio river. thence down the said river, including the islands thereof to the beginning.

Bounded as follows: Beginning at the mouth of Bull creek on Ing river, and up the point between the said Bull creek, including the waters of said Bull creek, to the top of the ridge between Tug river and Knox creek, and up the said ridge to the dividing ridge between the Laviea fork and the Tug fork. eastwardly along said ridge to the Bear Waller, and eastwardly along the ridge between Clinch and the Dry fork of Sandy, to a place called the But of Belsher's ridge, thence a straight line to the mouth of the Horse Pen creek, and up the same to Jesse !. Bounded as follows: Beginning on the line of Rockingham county, on the North mountain opposite to Charles Wilson's on the South Fork. thence a straight line to the Clay Lick on North Fork, thence to the top of the Alegana, and along the same and the east side of the Greenbrier waters to the southwest fountain of the South Branch, and thence between the same and the waters of James River along the dividing ridge to the said North mountain. and with the top of the sime to the beginning.

Formed in March, 1851, from Wood, Tyler and Ritchie Counties.
Bounded as follows : Beginning at the mouth of Bull ereck in the county of Wood, thence up said creek to its hend, crosong the Ritchie county line, and on to the top of dividing ridge. thence with said ridge to the Tyler county line, thence on said ridge with the Tyler and Ritchie county line to the head of Coal ran, a branch of MeKim's fork of Middle Island creek, and down the same to its mouth, thence to the mouth of Sheet ran, and up the same to its head, and over to the head of Thomas' ran and down the same to the Ohio river, thence down the Ohio river to the beginning.

Bounded as follows : Beginning where the county line between the counties of Mereer and Fayette strikes New river, thence down and along said river, with its meanders. to the mouth of Salt Liek run, near Isaac Sanner's, thence a straight line to the top of the dividing ridge between the waters of Paint creek and Cole river. crossing Paint creek at the upper end of Jackson Jarrell's planta- tion, thence with and along the top of said dividing ridge west wardly, to the dividing ridge between Cole river and Cabin Creek. and with and along the top of the same to the Boone county line. thence with the Boone county line to the end of the Great Cherry Pond mountain, thenee with and along the top of the dividing grounds between the waters that flow into the Marsh fork of Cole river and New river on the one side, and those that flow into Little Cole and Guyandotte rivers on the other side. to the present line between the counties of Fayette and Mercer, and with said line to New river at the beginning.

Bounded as follows : Beginning at the main forks of the Little Kanawha river, above Haymond's mills, thence with the right hand fork of said river, being the original line of Lewis and Braxton counties, and now the line between Gpshur and Braxton conutics. at the head of said right hand fork of Kanawha, thenee a straight line. to the castern corner of the lands of Abraham Buchannon. thence a straight line to the Whitaker rock on Elk river, thence :: straight line. by the way of Three forks of Gauley river. to the Po- cahontas line, and with said line to a point opposite the month of Strond's creek, thence a straight line by the mouth of Strand's creek to the mouth of Skile's creek on Big Birch river, thence a straight line to the half way point on Holly river. thence a straight line to the beginning.

Bounded as follows: Beginning on the Ohio river at the lower end of James Peden's (or Padsa's) firm, where the lands of said James Pelen (or Paden) and Richard Auchron join, theace a straight line to the north side of the farm now owned by Reuben Martin, Esquire, on Point Pleasant ere k. thence a northeast course to the top of the ridge dividing the waters of Fishing creek and Middle Island creek, thence following the top of said ridge to the line dividing the counties of Harrison and Tylex thence with the Tyler county line to the line dividing the counties of Tyler and

Bounded as follows : Beginning where the Ritchie county line crosses Goose creek, and thence a straight line to the month of Hughes' river, thenco down the Little Kanawha river to the month of Dailey's run, thence a straight line to the head of the Buckeye fork of Sandy creek, near John Stephens. Junior, thence with and along the top of the dividing ridge between Sandy and Tucker's creeks, and Sandy and Reedy creeks, to the Jackson trace road. where the same crosses said dividing ridge, and thence. running with and along said road to, including the residence of John P Thomasson in Jackson county, and thence continuing with and along sai I road to and including the residence of William Goff on Spring creek, thence to the head of Triplett's run on the Gilmer county line. thence, running with and along said Gihner and Ritchie county line, to the place of beginning.

Formed in December, 1798, from Harrison county.
Bounded as follows: Beginning at a point thirty miles from the Ohio river on the line dividing the counties of Harrison and Kanawha, thence northeasterly to intersect the line of Ohio county at twenty-one miles distance from the Ohio river, on a straight lino from that point where the line of Ohio county strikes the said river, being all that part of Harrison county lying to the west ward of said line.

Bounded as follows: Beginning on the top of Guyandotte moun- tain, on the line between Logan and Fayette counties, where the road leading from the Clear fork to Fayette crosses, thence with the line between Logan and Fayette to the Boone county line. thence with the line between Logan and Boone to the main dividing ridge between Buffalo and Hutt's creeks, and down said ridge to the Grassy spring, thence a straight line to the top of Hut''s creek mountain at the head of Cub creek. thence with and along the top of the ridge below Cub creek to the Guvandotte river, and down . the same to the mouth of Little Hutf's creek, thence a straight line to the top of the ridge below Little Hutf. and with and along the top of said ridge to the top of the main dividing ridge between the waters of Guyandotte and Sandy rivers, and with said ridge to the head of Long Pole creek, thenco with and along the top of the ridge helow said ereck to Sandy river. the line between Logon and Tazewell counties, thence with the lines between Logan and Taze- woll, and Logan and Mercer, and Logan and Fayette counties to the beginning.
