Mr. Caldwell is Republican in politics, feel- ing that it is the duty of every good citizen to take a deep and abiding personal interest in the political as well as the social and industrial progress of his city. State and Nation, and is active and aggressive in his party's interests. He is Chairman of the

Senatorial Committee; Member of the Exec- utive Committee of Wood County, and Se ?- retary of the City Republican Executive Committee, and is a speaker and indefatig- able worker in each campaign.

Mr. Caldwell is charitable, jovial &id warm-hearted, and has a good word for everybody. The poor have found in him a friend in time of trouble, and in times of distress he has always been a willing worker, using every effort to succor the afflicted a id to re-establish normal conditions.

Whatever adds to the interests of Park- ersburg finds in Mr. Caldwell an enthusiastic supporter, and whatever he gives his sup- port finds in him a tireless worker, as he acknowledges no such word as "fail." Real- izing the value of a Red Book, showing the commercial, industrial and social advaat- ages of his home city, he disregarded any question of financial loss to himself and lent every energy to produce a book that would be a credit to the city and show the many advantages comprised within her borders, and to him may be ascribed the credit for the present unique work, which we herewith present to you.

Mr. Caldwell is an attorney with a large and growing practice, and is a "hustler" whose every effort is for progress and pros- perity, and whose tireless energy is devoted both politically and socially to make a better and a greater Parkersburg.

Parkersburg Schools

Parkersburg schools are among the best to be found anywhere in the country, involv- ing a modern educational system complete in all its branches. Not only is a sound training in English and mathematics given, but also the collateral branches, including Deportment, Music, Drawing, Physical Cul- ture, German, etc.

Her school buildings are modern and up- to-date, with careful attention paid to heat- ing, lighting and ventilation, and will compare well with the best to be found anywhere. Her corps of teachers are well trained and enthusiastic in their work, and are under the supervision of a superintend- ent whose years of training in the schools qualifies him to know the every need of the schools, and to give them direct personal supervision.

Tuition is free to all residents of the city. Especial emphasis must be laid upon the fact that from the primary grade to the time of graduation books are furnished free of charge, placing a fine scholastic training within the reach of even the most humble.

Non-residents pay a tuition fee of one dol- lar per month in the grade schools and of two dollars per month in the High School.
