THE BOARD OF TRADE.
Headquarters 460 Ninth street. The Oakland Board of Trade was organized September 10, 1886. The first President was V. D. Moody, President of the First National Bank, who was succeeded, in April, 1888, by F. K. Shattuck; J. M. Davies was the first Secretary.
Like similar organizations in this State, the Board of Trade is in effect a city improvement association, looking to all meas- ures of public interest, extending a knowledge of the advantages of the city and county, and in all suitable ways promoting agri- cultural, commercial and industrial prosperity.
April 10, 1888, the Board was regularly incorporated under the laws of the State, and its articles now provide for the usual commercial features of the arbitration and adjustment of differ- ences.
