Example of Lapsed Policies Paid in Full Under the Mutual Benefits Pe- culiarly Attractive Non-forfeiture System.
Policy No. 74,911, on the life of Dr. Andrew J. Cory, of San Jose, Cal., was issued in 1873, at age 41, for $1,000, with an annual premium of $33.28. He paid 10 premiums, amounting to $332.80, which, less dividends, $72.49, made a net payment or cost of $260.31, exclusive of interest. He did not pay the premium due in September, 1883; but instead of taking a paid-up policy for $304, as he could have done, he allowed his insurance to be extended for 9 years and 173 days, making in all 19 years and 173 days' insurance, at an average yearly cost of $13.37 per thousand.
Mr. Cory died in March, 1892, more than 8 years after the lapse of the policy, which, however, was promptly paid in full by the Company. The above rule applies to all policies.
Giving at age 35, on the Annual Life Plan.
