OVER

Stockton Business

COLLEGE Normal Institute AND

This is one of the Oldest Business Colleges on the Coast

TS GRADUATES OCCUPY positions of honor and trust throughout the mercantile community, and the thorough- ness of their preparation has merited the commendation of business men everywhere.

The remarkable success and growth of this Business College is due to the following reasons:

I. The Course is very thorough. This school has never made any extravagant claims. It does not offer its diploma to any but - those who have completed every part of its practical and com - plete course of Business Training. A graduate from this school has received the most thorough training given by any Commercial College in the country, and is competent to fill any position open to any young accountant.

II. The Expenses are Reduced to a Minimum. We have perfected a system of boarding which enables us to offer first-class board for $10 per month-no more, no less .. This is its exact cost to us. Room rent, including lights, $3 per month and upwards.

III. The Honest Dealing with our Patrons. This school makes no profit on board, stationery, or books. Everything is furnished to students at cost. There are no extravagant charges.

IV. No Grades. Individual instruction given. The student can thereby advance as fast as his ability will permit, and he will not be kept back by others of less talent and application, nor will the backward student be obliged to pass over work which he does not understand, in order to keep up with a class.

Those whose early education has been neglected are instructed privately without extra charge, and any young man or woman who desires a business education should not fail to write to us.

NORMAL COURSE

)E make a specialty of training teachers. In a single month, this school year, thirty students from this school received teachers' certificates.

As in the Commercial Department, a special study has been made to reduce all expenses to actual cost, and to fit the student for his professional work in the shortest possible time.

TEACHERS' DEPARTMENT

The constant demand for well-trained teachers requires that we make a specialty of this department. The most prominent objections, urged by teachers, against the course pursued in most of the Schools and Academies, are: Ist They are held back in their classes on account of those less advanced and less interested in their studies. 2nd They have not the privilege of selecting their own studies. Our large attendance enables us to have a much greater variety of classes than can possibly be had where the number is small, hence students can select their own studies, and advance as they may desire.

We have such arrangements as will enable those teachers, who have but a short respite from their schools, to spend their time and means to the best possible advantage. Beginning, advanced, and review classes are formed in all the branches, not at the beginning only, but at different periods during the terin. This accommodates teachers whose schools close before the opening of the regular term. Such may enter at any time, begin their studies just where they wish, continue in school as long as they can, and then drop out, teach a term, return and take up their studies where they left off. Many are familiar with certain branches, but desire to review them briefly. It is a well-known fact among teachers that WE DO FORGET, and become unfamiliar with those branches which we do not constantly teach. It is too true that GRADUATES, generally, are not so well prepared for examination for a teacher's certificate at the CLOSE OF THEIR COLLEGE COURSE, as they were when they began it, simply because they have so long neglected the common branches. They need a BRIEF REVIEW. No one is held back on account of students less advanced. This course, we have found, accommodates a large class of students and teachers.

SHORT-HAND AND TYPE-WRITING

Our classes in Short-hand receive the entire attention of an experienced instructor.
