THE ONLY KEELEY INSTITUTE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.
If you are interested in any one who uses Alcohol, Oplum, or Tobacco to excess, read the following:
F ROM time immemorial quacks, fakes, and impostors have succeeded, by plausible talk, in persuading a confiding public to part with their hard-earned money in the expec- tation of being benefited by some so-called cure. This has gone on until people are suspicious of everything in the nature of cures, and it is only by the most convincing testimony, extending over a period of many years, that the really intelligent man or woman can be won over to approve and indorse a treatment for disease of any kind.
Drunkenness was for centuries considered a habit, and the sufferer from it was accused of want of moral principle, lack of will power, etc., until DR. KEELEY announced to the world that it was a disease, and that he could cure that disease. This startling depart- ure from recognized ideas made the public all the more doubtful as to the correctness of his assertions. This was fifteen years
ago, and during that time over 250,000 people have been treated by the Keeley Remedies for drunkenness, the tobacco habit, the opium habit, and other drug addictions and neuras- thenia. These men. and women and their relatives and friends have all given their testimony as to the effectiveness of the cures. Thousands of the most eminent men and women in the country, after thorough investigation, have given it their unqualified approval; the United States Government has introduced it into the homes for disabled volunteer soldiers; several States and cities have passed laws compelling habitual drunk- ards to take the treatment; and the whole country recognizes the benefits derived. In short, DR. KEELEY'S claim, that inebriety is a disease, and that by the use of his reme- dies at the various Keeley Institutes such disease can be cured, has become as thor- oughly substantiated as that vaccination will prevent smallpox. As a consequence of the success of the Keeley Treatment, impostors and imitators have sprung up on all sides, run a short-lived course, demonstrated their inability to make permanent cures, and sub- sided.
