This Crematory, now in daily operation, is constructed upon the most modern and scientific plan, complete in every detail, and is one of the best in the world. Time of incineration about sixty minutes. Casket cremated with the body. Ask or write for booklet containing full information. Charge for cre- mation of adult $50.00.

Telegraph, telephone or write to Secretary, 103 First National Bank Building, who will make all arrangements.

(OVER)

Cremation of Human Bodies

Cremation is unquestionably the coming method of disposing of the dead. There are many reasons why it will grow in favor. It is economical and sanitary, as well as the most reverent and decent treatment of the bodies of the dead, and one that is in entire accordance with Christian belief.

Think of the loathsomeness of the grave, and compare the slow process of years of decomposition with the beautiful burial by fire, not in the flames, as many under misapprehension are led to believe; during the whole incineration, there is nothing in connection therewith that can shock the feelings of the most sensitive, no flame, no odor, no smoke, no noise, to grieve the bereaved, but in the rosy glow of light, cremation accomplishes in about sixty minutes, what mother earth requires full fifty years.

DESCRIPTION OF A CREMATION

The act of reducing the human body to ashes, is attended with no possible cause for wounding the delicacy of mourners or friends, or for arousing any feelings of re- pugnance to the last rites herein performed. The casket is placed upon the movable pall in the Chapel, from whence, after the religious service, if any, it is taken to the preparation parlor. There, in plain view of all assembled, and without removing any part thereof, is silently and gently pushed into the opening of the retort, the impression left is similar to that when a body is placed in its crypt in the family mau- soleum. The door of the retort is closed, and neither sight, hearing, or sense of any kind is conscious of the work that follows. The atomized oil and air is now applied into the retort, which quickly generates gas in immense volume, and the intense heat within sixty minutes reduces the body to ashes. Only the ashes of the bones remain, and they are carefully removed from the retort, and placed in a copper urn, labeled and ready for delivery to the owner.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS

We have two retorts with the latest improved air and oil atomizers, and can cremate four bodies per day. Crude petroleum is used.

The oil is forced into the retorts at a temperature of 100 degrees. The retort, previous to incineration, is heated to a temperature from 800 to 1,000 degrees Fahren- heit. This produces effective atomizing, therefore, high efficiency.

Temperature of retort at the time of cremation is 2,500 to 3,000 degrees Fahren- heit.

There is no flame, no smoke, no odor, no noxious gases, all being consumed by action of intense heat.

Not less than two witnesses are always present when casket is placed in the retort.

The body may be seen during the entire time of incineration.

The body is not removed from the casket or even touched or handled by any one.

There are no ashes from the casket, all being consumed by the intense heat.

The screws, nails, tacks and other metallic substances of casket are removed from the ashes by a powerful magnet.

The weight of ashes is from four to eight pounds according to size of deceased.

The public is invited to inspect the buildings and apparatus of The Denver Crematory at any time.
