May 4th, A.D. 1780. The Church of Christ in the second society was embodied by the kev. Joseph trong & the Rev. Aaron Church, when the following Confession of Faith, and Covenant were adopted.
We whose names are hereunto annexed, having our habitation by divine providence in the western part of the Township of Hartland, being by law an incorporated civil Society, when by reason of too great distance we cannot with conveniency steadily enjoy Communion in the s'ecial ordinances of the gospel, with any regular organized Church of Christ. Deeply sensible of the high importance of such communion, & earnestly desirous of it, & to that end would be formed into a district & particu- lar Church of Christ by ourselves, and therefore unitedly & cordially embrace, as matters of our firm belief the several summary doctrinal articles, contained in the following confession of Faith, & fully consent to the Church Covenant thereunto sub joined.
