GEER'S HARTFORD
HOURS OF PUBLIC WORSHIP.
The following arrangement has been generally agreed upon by the Churches in this City. .
1. The morning service on the Lord's day, to begin through- out the year at 10.30 o'clock-bells to be rung at 10.15.
3. From the Second Sabbath in October to the last in March, inclusive, the afternoon service to begin at 2.30. From the first in April to the last in September, inclusive it is to begin at 3.15.
8. The hours of all the evening services are as follows; from the first of December to the last of February, at 7 o'clock; from the Erst of June to the last of August, at 7.45; through. all the remaining months at 7.15. Ringing of the bells in all cases fifteen minutes before the time for the commencement of the services.
RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS IN CITY OF HARTFORD.
The first Church organization in Hartford was originally gathered in Newtown, (row Cambridge.) Mass., and was duly organized by the Installation of THOMAS HOOKER as pastor, and SAMUEL STONE as icacher. October 11th. 1633.
In June, 1636, Messr .. Hooker and Stone, with about one hundred of their people, imoved to this place, being the first Church established in Connecticut. This Church embraced the territory now orcu; ted by the Churches of the City; of East Hartord; And of West Hartford.
THE SECONDOF SOUTH CHURCH IN HARTFORD, was organi- xed Feb. 12, 1669. The Church in EAST HARTFORD was also set off from the FIRST OF CISTER CHURCH, and received a sepa- rate organization in May. 1502; and that in WEST HARTFORD, Feb. 1713; Colonies have also gone cut from this church to assist in starting the North, Fourth, and Pearl street churches.

TALCOTT STREET CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, 30 Talcott street.
TRE Talcott Street Congregational Church in Hartford, was organized on the 25th of August, 1833. Dr. Hawes, pastor of the First Church, and the Pastor of the Second Church, officia- ted on the occasion. The Church was at first composed of seven meinbers, who came by letter from the First Church in Hart- ford, and other churches in the vicinity. The Church, since its organization, has been supplied by Reverends D. T. hitobail, Julin A. Hempsted, E. I. Tyler, Dr. Jones W. C. Prunings. a, and C. W. Gardner.

THE present edifice of Christ Church was begun in 1827. The corner stone was laid by R :. Rev. Bishop Brownell, on the 13th of May, 1828. The Church is built of free-stone, and its extreme length, including the tower and butresses, is 12112 feet; and the extreme brea ith fo feet ; the tower, ( which is of stone,) resses at the anzi, This Churen was consecrated by the Et. Rev. Bishop Hobart, on the 221 of December, 1>29. Their Chapel, situate 1 in the rear of Church, was erected in 1836.

ST. JOHN'S CHURCH - EPISCOPAL.

THE corner stone was laid July 14th. 1841, by Rt. R. v. Dishon Brownell, was con-ecrated by the same prelate, to the glory and worship of the Most Holy Trinity. April 20th, 1842. The whoje length of the Church, including tower and chancel, is Ils fert. The spire rises to a height of 190 feet from its base. The corner-stone of this cuifice was laid by Bishop Williams on the with of July, 1984 ANS de church at tuare, 1855. The church is 74 feet in length. and 47 feet in wiuth, exclusive of the chancel, which is 6 feet by 20, and a vestry room, 9 feet by 16. It contains 94 slips on the floor, and has a gallery only for the organ and choir. It contains, also, a large lecture room, for the accommodation of Sunday, Sewing Schools, &c., connected with this congregation. It is built of free stone, upon land given by Geo. Beach, E-q., and, ex- clusive of the land, cost only a little more than $8000.

Tins Church was organized, and a house of worshipererted in 1820, and enlarged in 1529. The house was improved in 1940, aa a centennial commemoration of the orica: 00 of Methodi-m. It is 80 feet by 50, with 104 slips an! a cuery, both seating about 900 persons. The steeple is co fretin he.cut from the ground. The present number of Church members is about 400.
