THIs congregation purchased the South Baptist Church edi- fice, and took possession the 1st of July, 1853. The church is situate I upon the corner of Main and Sheldon streets. Size of edifice on Main street, 47 feet, on Sheldon street, so feet, with a tower 70 feet in height. Will seat about 750 persons. In 1857 their offer for been very much improved, by alertas, and by re-painting.

It is situated at No. 2 Water stree :. This House, Colfer Daum and Pier, with the land, cost $67,525.61. On the dir-t story is a Hall y by 9 feet-office in front 15 by 18.6 feet-Pump room Boj by 37} feet-Engine room IS by 37; feet-unl a Boiler room 30 by 373 feet. WADSWORTH ATHENEUM, 206 Main Street, opposite to Mulberry Street,


Is a granite building of 100 feet in length, on Main street, and 80 feet in depth in center wings, and 70 teet in depth in outside wings, and is appropriated to four distinct Societies. Its archi- tectural style is of the castelated structure, with central towers 70 feet in height, and corner butresses 56 feet in height. The stone, which is a species of gneiss, was procured from the east part of Glastonbury, about nine miles South East of this city.


The North division, first story 13 feet high, second story 24 fect high, and both 65 feet long by 30 feet wide, is occupied by the YOUNG MEN'S INSTITUTE, for a reading room, quarterly and other meetings, and by their Library, of 10,000 volumes.


The South division is of the same dimensions as the North. The CONNECTICUT HISTORICAL SOCIETY use this.


The NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY Occupy a large room in the first story of the South division of the Atheneum.


The central division of similar dimensions with the others, is used as a gallery of very valuable PAINTINGS and STATUARY.


The building was erected by voluntary contributions of citi- zens, and, with the land and fence, cost $52,085.35.

ARSENAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, commencing at a point on the west bank of the Connect.cut River due east of the center of the eastern termination of Avon street, and running from thence westerly and southerly by the line of the 2d North School District to the crossing of Edwards street, from thence west through the center of Wahunt street to Brick-kiln brook, and from thence northerly by the course of the brook to the present northern boundary. and from thenee by the present northern boundary due east to the river, and from thence by said rives southerly to the plice of beginning.
