JONES, formerly professor in the Franklin Institute at Philadelphia, and more recently Professor of Chemistry in the Medical Department of Columbian College, in this District, and the late Dr. FREDERICK HALL, Professor of Chemistry in the last named institution; to- gether with many of the most eminent physicians of the District.
The proprietor would state that the water made by machines like his, is now very extensively in use, on account of its great salubrity and invigorating and refreshing qualities as a summer drink.

Washington, May 25, 1843.
To MR. FAVIER.
Sir,-We have, at your request, carefully examined your estab- lishment and apparatus for the manufacture of mineral waters, and are fully satisfied that the article, as prepared by you, possesses, in an eminent degree, those properties which should recommend it to general use. The water of the spring from which you obtain your supply is remarkably pure, and your apparatus so constructed as not only to preserve its purity, but to insure its perfeet and equal satu- ration with gas; your corking apparatus, also, enables you to secure it in bottles unimpaired in its properties. We shall be very glad, therefore, to learn that it receives that encouragement from the pub- lie which we are well assured it fully merits.

REILLY'S PATENT VAPOR BATHS,
Which the Government of the United States have purchased the right to use in the Army and Navy, upon the recommendation of numerous distinguished Surgcons of each of said services. In these Baths, the external application of sulphur, and any other irrespirable gas, vapor from herbs, &c., can be applied with perfect safety and convenience to the patient, and in which the lungs are not only defended from any irrespirable vapor that may be used, but also from the exhala- tions discharged from all parts of the body by profuse perspiration, to which they are exposed when the head is enclosed in the usual way-a practice always offensive, and in many diseases highly inju- rious, and quite unnecessary ; as any desired vapor can be inhaled in these apparatus without this loathsome accompaniment. In these applications will be found a powerful yet safe general auxiliary to the efforts of the physician for the removal of disease, but particularly so in diseases of the skin, such as tetter, &c., as also in rheumatism and gouty affections, and after the use of any mercurial preparation.
The subscriber respectfully informs the physicians, and the public generally, that he has a set of these apparatus erected at his resi- dence on Third street, where he is prepared to apply them, or when necessary, they can be applied in the chamber of the sick with perfect convenience and safety, there being a portable apparatus for the purpose.
