The qualifications of a regis- tered voter in the city election are :- He must have paid all his taxes since he was agen twenty- one years; he must be a resident of the state twelve months, of the county six months and the city thirty days
The General Council is com- posed of a board of ten Alder- men and twenty Councilmen; one member is elected from each ward annually for two years. Aldermen are elected. for terms of three years each
General Council meets first and third Monday afternoons in each month at3 o'clock
Aldermanic: Board meets Thurs- day following at 3 o'clock
GENERAL. INFORMATION LICENSES
Failure to take out license by the 5th day of the first month of each quarter imposes cost and trouble, as . the law compels the issuance of aafi fa .. and a case may also be made in the Record- er's court
Make checks payable to E E Williams, tax collector. Do not include water bill, taxes, or any- thing else you may owe the city in your check for license
If you will bring your old li- cense, it will save you time, and may avoidan error
WHEN TO RETURN AND PAY TAXES
Make city tax returns from February 1st to March 15th The city tax rate is $1.25 per $100 Ten per cent penalty for fail- ure to make returns by March 15th
Pay first installment (33 1-3 per cent) April 1 to 15
Pay second installment (33 1-3 per cent) June 15 to 30
Pay third installment (33 1-3 per cent Sept 1 to October 15
A discount of 11/2 per cent will be allowed upon the total taxes if paid on the date when 1st in- stallment is due. A discount of same is paid on or before the 11/2 per cent will be allowed upon the last installment of tax if time fixed for the payment of the 2nd installment. On failure to pay installments when due, same shall bear interest at the rate of 7 per cent per annum
All transfers of real estate
must be reported immediately after sale is made to city tax assessors
Water bills payable 1st to 10th of each month. Discount of 25 per cent if paid by the 10th

FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Atlanta paid Fire Depart- ment was organized July 1, 1882; now has a chief engineer, three assistant chiefs, one fire in- spector, thirteen captains, four- teen lieutenants, one superin- tendent of fire alarm, eight en- gineers, one secretary, one hun- dred and seventy men, nine
steamers, eleven two-horse hose wagons, six hook and ladder trucks in service, sixty-three horses, two automobiles, 25,000 feet of hose, and two double- tank two-horse chemical engines. The annual expense in connec- tion with the fire department is about $236,663.05 The force is paid as follows: Chief, $3,600 per year; assistant chiefs, 1st, $1,800; 2d, $1,650; 3d, $1,500; cap- tains, $,1320; lieutenants, $1,140; engineers, $1,140 per annum; hosemen, $60.00 to $90.00 per
month; superintendent of fire alarm, $1,500 per annum The Gamewell fire system is used with street boxes
