COURTS.
United States Court of the Southern District of Iowa-The United States is divided into nine judicial circuits, fin each of which a circuit court is held for each district within each circuit. `The act of congress approved April, 10th, 1869, provides as follows: "The circuit court; ih each cigddit shall be held by the justice offthe supreme court allotted to the cirquit. or by the circuit judge of the circMit, or by the district judge of the district, sitting alone, or by the justice of the supreme court and circuit judge sitting togeth- er, in which case the justice of the supreme court shall preside, or in the absence of either of them, by the oth- er (who shall preside) and the district judge.
The state of Iowa is divided into. two judicial districts, The courts for the southern district are held 'in dis- triet court rooms, U. S. goverment building at Des Moines, second Tues- ; day in May and third Tuesday in No- Vember. At Council Bluffs, second Tuesday in March and third Tuesday in . September. At Keokuk second Tuesday in April and third Tuesday in October. Both districts are attached to the Eighth judicial /district, which comprises the states of Minnesota.
