SECTION 12.


THE prices to be charged by the Owner or Driver of any Hackney Coach, Cab, Coach, or any other vehicle, except Omnibuses, for the conveyance of any passengers within said city, shall be as follows: to be regulated and esti- mated by the distance of the most direct routes; namely :


1. For conveying passengers any dis- tance not exceeding one mile - - $0.80. For every additional passenger of the same family or party 0.15


2. For conveying a passenger any dis- tance exceeding a mile, and within city. limits 0.60. For every additional passenger of the same family or party 0.25


3. For conveying children between five and fourteen years of age, half of the above prices may be charged for the like distances; but for children under five years, no charge shall be. made. (To be regulated by the distance. upon the most direct route.).

ney Coach, Cab, Coach, or other Carriage, or vehicle, Dray, Cart, or Wagon, shall induce any person to employ him, by either knowing- ly, wantonly, or ignorantly, misinforming or misleading such person, as to the time or place of arrival or departure of any Railroad Car, Steam, or Canal Boat, or other public convey- anee whatever; or the location of any Railroad Depot, Office, or Station; or any other Rail- . . 1.00 0.75 0.50 road Ticket Office, or the location of any Hotel, Stage Office, public place or private residence, within said city ; or shall induce any person to ride or employ his vehicle by falsely repre- senting himself to such person as running his vehicle for, or being in the employment of & Public House, Canal, or Steamboat Line, Rail- road, or Stage Company, with a view to 'exact, 0.75 | solicit, or take fare, or any sum of money 0.50 0.85 whatever from such person, for conveying him to such Public House, Canal or Steamboat Landing, Railroad Depot, Ticket Office, or 8.00 Stage Company's Office ; or shall convey any passenger at or without his request, in such vehicle, to any Ticket Office for the purpose of enqairing as to the time of departure thereof, and thence to any of the before mentioned public conveyances, and shall, without having been unreasonably detained by said passenger, . charge any such greater price than single fare Ur hire, or shall strike, threaten, insult, other- wise abuse or maltreat any passenger under any pretence whatever, such owner or driver shall, for each and every of said offences, for- feit and pay a sum not less than ten dollars and not exceeding fifty dollars.
