The following minute was received from mens meeting?
which was united with by this meeting, and directed to be placed upon our Minutes
On leading the answers to the first query our minds were humbled in consideration of the present State of our once highly favored and get much beloved Society of the unsettled condition as we find in. the reports from Spring Preparative, trat on One 9 day. of the 12 month 1877 on the convening of friends it was. found that the meeting house was closed, Friends 90 or more in number, were united in judgement trat it would be right to pass that alors meeting; (as the weather was inclement) and to hold meeting in a private house in the town of Ama for the present, and have done do regularly ever since to the Satisfaction of Friends, Celso in thees exercising the religious duty enjoined upon us, the house at Summit Grove was closed against us on the 14th day of 11 " month 1877, and friends of that meeting thought it right to retire to a stable near by, (the day being rainy) and hold their meeting, have been holding meeting at private houses ever since it being the best we can do at present, and a further evidence of the above condition of our Society was manifested by moving
Summit Grove meeting house of the ground that it peas built on, On the 4 and 5 days of 1st Month 1258.

In the reorganization of our First day Schools we have felt very solicitous that we may consider seriously and carefully the object of such schools, The scripture were given forth by inspiration of god, they are his written laring to us who have access to them, they may be considered as inseparable connected, with proper and complete understanding of Gospel Treets, the teaching of the Holy Spirit will always be found in harmony with them; and his enlightning info quince is necessary to a right interpretation thereof, ave deem it right that while theis highly esteeming the ibaly scripties Rue be careful to not place on them a higher estimate than 1 they claim; they are profitable for doctrine for reproof

They testify of and lead unto Christ the true teacher"
but to claim that they are the only sure and sufficient guide to salvation is we believe calculated to lead from Christ the true teacher into a dependence upon a mere? intellectual and historical knowledge of the Scriptures as a Sufficient law unto us, as we believe that the principles of our society fully accord with the Holy Scriptures, there seems to us to be not only a propriety but a necessity for teaching them diligently to our children! especially in this day of sifting and commotion among professors of religion. We would therefor call the attention of committees and Teachers to this part of the Subject that they improve every opportunity for impressing those essential principles as well as the Testimonies and interpretations of scripture which have been held as peculiar to our society, and not only that they be believers in but he lived out in our daily life and conversation, Monthly Meetings committees. were encouraged to open and superintend schools when way opened for it in their respective neighbourhoods and forward their reports to the clock of western Really Meetings committee on Scriptural instruction by 1st & 9th month next, Address Cabin Mesner Clayton Hendricks County Indiana.
