Muncie Lodge of Elks was organized August 25, 1892, in the Heath Iron building. Though the order is among the more recent in Muncie, it has from the first been one of the strongest, and Muncie has become known as

one of the strongholds of the order in Indiana. A few years ago one of the gala weeks in the city's history was celebrated under the auspices of the Elks' convention and carnival. In keeping with the objects and the local strength of the order, the Elk club rooms in Muncie are the most elegantly equipped quarters in the city, the work of remodeling and furnishing hav- ing been completed in the spring of 1907.

The Muncie branch of the Improved Order of Heptasophs. was organ- ized June 26, 1894, by David A. Thorp, of Letonia, Pa., who was sent here for that purpose from the general headquarters of the order at Baltimore.
