Madison (Matt) Rettinger, son of Samuel and Ruth Rettinger, who operated a meat market in New Ross, was married to Sarah Ann Peffley Rettinger, and their children were Flossie Pearl, married Charles Ebaugh, and had Athena, Buford. Emmons A. Douglas and wife Augusta Trotter Douglas spent their last days in New Ross. Had three daughters, Janet Flannig- ham, Mildred Buser, and Evangeline Douglas Kelly Harris Iris- keep. Her second husband was Bill Harris, son of Ulysses and Phenia Harris. He died and she married Harry Inskeep. Bill and Evangeline both worked at New Ross Lumber Company for many years.
Michael Bruch II married Rachel Winter, born 1815, died 10-3-1885, daughter of John and Elizabeth Pfrimmer Winter, and they lived 1/2 mile north of New Ross. Their children were Michael III, married Mellissa Golliday, 1879, also said tohave married the "widow Gott", Elizabeth, and Phillip Bruehs. Phil- lip Bruchs owned a farm west of New Ross, near Greenwood School, where my grandparents, James Linns' lived from 1893 to 1903 and my parents from 1910 to 1918, so 18 years of my mothers life was spent in this house. Harbe- ville Hubert had Alfred, Andrew, Betty, Gertie Beck, Edith Michaels, and Willis Hubert married Pauline Warren, raised by William E. and Alice Wright Walker, and their daughter Patri- cia married James Routh, and they have a son Roger Routh, and they live on a farm home owned by Willis Hubert, but several years ago it was owned by the Michael and Mary Zenor Whoel Eliza (?) and Sarah Kildow Denoon had a daughter, Sarah Emma, married Thomas A. Whorley, son of William and Tir- (Woeh1), and children Ethel and Ray Woehl. Issac Baker, born 1797, Ky. and wife Martha (Patsy) Sparks Baker, came here in 1830, near New Ross, south in Clark Town- ship. Had two children, Jonas and John Baker. John, born 1827, Ky., married Lucinda Clark, daughter of Willis and Hannah Jones Clark, who also came in 1830. Besides Lucinda, other Clark children were Joseph J., William T., Milton, Nathan, James M. , Benjamin, Winifred, Oliver, John, Francis M., Syd- ney, Susan, Alexander, Mary, and Fanny Clark. John and Lu- cinda Baker's children were Winifred, Harriet E., Emma, Mar- tha H. , George, Mary A., William, and a baby, died infancy.
Three Baker brothers, Ernest, Thomas, and Warren Baker, all lived around New Ross. Ernest married Lillian Tofford and they had Jack Baker and Esther Baker Kehoe. (Lillian Tofford was a daughter of John and Elizabeth Hinkle Tofford. She m. 2 Jesse Walters). Thomas Baker never married; and Warren Baker mar- ried Anna C. Ballard, daughter of Louis and Josephine Dean Bal- lard. They had two daughters and one son; Opal married Maur- ice Huffman, had three daughters, Carolyn, Maureen, and Jane Huffman; Mary Baker married Emory Duncan, had two daugh- ters Grace Meier, and Ruth Rose, all at Linnsburg; and Russell Baker married Katherine Chaffin, a Ladoga girl and they have three daughters.
John Coddington and wife Sarah A. Johnson Coddington had two children, Charles Coddington, and Pearl Coddington, mar- ried 1. Albert Montgomery, he died; she married 2, Monroe Smith, his second wife. They had a son Donald Smith. (Mon- roe had a son Earl from his first marriage). Monroe died and she married 3. Verne Byroads, and they lived on E. Frazier St. in New Ross. She died in 1965.

Newkirk, called Ned, mer- chant in New Ross from 1899 on, married Stella Margaret Fish- er on 8-10-1875, daughter of James Samuel and Barbara E. Rice Fisher, all early inhabitants here. Cornelius Newkirk was born 1-12-1850, in Knox County, Indiana. One of Cornelius' sons was James Artie Newkirk born 1-29-1880 in New Ross.
Iverson and Mary Smith Funkhouser had Mayme Buchler, Ralph Funkhouser, Brewer Funkhouser, and Doris Funkhouser, who married Robert Brown, son of Eli F. and Sallie Jane Mc- Grew Brown. Brown Jr. married Ruth Elizabeth Thomp- son, children Roger Allen and Shirley Ruthann; Lois Marcile Brown Abbott and Margaret Brown Groves. Robert Browns Sr. lived north of New Ross, two miles, but retired to New Ross and lived west of New Ross Lumber Yard on Highway 136. Here are more Spohrs north of New Ross, Samuel Spohr mar- ried a Patterson girl, and one of their daughters, Margaret, mar- ried George Myers, and their children were Fred, married Vera Reichard; Belva married Charles Reichard; Ross Myers married Carrie Reichard; and William Myers married Saralı Edith Baker, (a Linn descendant), and Albert Myers married Ditha M, Thomp- son. All of these Myers children lived in the Mace area and west of New Ross. The Reichard children named above who married into the Myers family were sons and daughters of William and Elizabeth Reichards.
George McCoy married Mary Spohr and their daughter, Jose- phine married Gentry Ballenger, had Paul, Jesse, Rutlı Hull, Mrs. Earl Nelson and Mrs. Mary Kinder, whose daughter Agnes Kinder attended New Ross school, when her mother was in the Thomas Evans home, north of New Ross.

Flor- ence Hamilton Sandlin; George Profitt, Clarence D. Proffit; Al- ice Golliday; and Mrs. Sam Frazier. Henry Profitt's first wife was the daughter of Solomon Canada.
Thomas and Mary Chavers Spencer had George H. Spencer, , married Lulu Rogers, children Harley and Homer; and Emma Spencer married Edgar Otterman, and for several years they lived 2 1/2 miles southwest of New Ross, children were Lillian, Hubert, Harold and Warren Otterman.
Clara Sperry married Frank Beck, had a daughter Ruth Beck. George Sperry married Maud Moss, a teacher. John and Isaac Sperry both lived north of New Ross. Isaac Sperry married Susan Myers, and they had 12 children, four boys and eight girls, but I only have two, David Harrison Sperry, born 6-22-1872, New Ross, died 1963, married 1. Cressie Daugherty Sperry, he mar- ried 2. Leona Leota Fullenwider Morrison Steen. He and his first wife had Mildred Sperry, and Doll Sperry, married Bert Sparks, and they had two children, Lucille Sparks Ross and Car- rol Sparks.

He married Hannah Laymon, and had three children, Albert, born 5-19-1874, New Ross, married Amanda Buchanan, had two children, Nina Newkirk Wetrick and Clyde Hubert Newkirk married Carrie Har- ris, granddaughter of SamuelStillwell and wife Margaret Schnepp Harris, had three daughters, Forest Newkirk, never married; Julia Newkirk, married Valentine Norman, had five children, infant, died; Elbert Moss, died 1908, Audrey Norman married Herman Thompson; Hubert; and Fred Norman. Bert Newkirk and Val Normans lived west and south of Newkirk corner.
David and Maria Evans Buchanan, north of New Ross, came here 1833. Their children were James E. And Sarah F. , John, Margaret, Joshua, William, David Jr., and Robert Buchanan. James E. Buchanan, born 8-10-1834, died 1912, age 78, mar- ried Mary Margaret Myers, daughter of Frederick and Amanda McCoy Myers, on 12-23-1865. They had five children; Aman- da married Albert Newkirk; Joanne Buchanan McClusky; George Buchanan; Flora Buchanan married Benjamin Franklin Miller (see Issac Miller family), and Edward Buchanan. Flora Miller and Amanda Newkirk lived 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 miles west of New Ross.
Samuel and Jane Pitcher Tharp had George C. Tharp, mar- ried to Anna Fulp, lived west of New Ross, near Newkirks, their children were Oren (d), he and his family lived in New Ross, and Artie May Tharp married Ralph Terry and their son George Terry and family live nearer to Mace, but he belongs to New Ross American Legion, and children attend school here. George has been Commander of the Legion; Marion Tharp married Mat-
tie Everson, had Frances, who married Manson Linn, son of Clif ton and Gertrude Bowman Linn; and Tillie Tharp married Har vey Redmond. Samuel Tharp was son of Moscs and Delphi Hampton Tharp.

Chambers married Amand Loop and they lived near Now Ross, their children were born i New Ross, Andrew, 1874-1962, married Stella Stoner, had tw children, Thomas (d), and Geneva; Homer Chambers was bo in Kansas, so William B. must have gone to Kansas for awhile Jane Chambers, Albert Chambers, and Lola Chambers marrie Homer Linn. David Reed, living here in 1850 census, born Ohio 1810, ha children Hugh, Eleanor, Abigail, Hannah, Robert N. Reed, a born Ohio, Rebecca and David Reed Jr., both born in Indiana
John Crawford of New Ross had a son Aaron B. Crawford, w died in New Ross, 1901, age 84.
Joseph and Martlia Coons Norman were parents of David No man, the Blacksmith, who died Nov. 1907. Amanda Norman wife of David, was daughter of Enos and Kate Riggle Copc. She died 2-17-1897, age 56.
Cyrus Wren died Dec. 1903, age 80, buried Pisgah Cenietery. John J. Booher, born 1815, Tenn., died 1-11-1901 in New Ross, married 1. Mariah Endicott, 1837. She died 1864, Dar- lington. He married 2. Margaret Jane Booher, born Tenn., married 3-5-1865. They came to New Ross 2-7-1900, a year after F. J. Booher started his tile factory. Jane Boohier was stil living in 1916, but three sons and four daughters had died, and John J., her husband, had died. Only two sons living, Alber and Flavius Joseph Booher, who had thetile factory . Their cem- etery was behind the home, at west edge of New Ross, at the southwest corner. Cemetery has been removed by present own ers.
There were many Tiptons around New Ross. In 1850, Johr Tipton, born 1812, Tenn. , and wife Sarah, born 1817, Tenn. and census gave children Elizabeth J., born 1834, Tenn. , Mary E., John, and Lalita (?). To Montgomery around 1834. Anothe son, Wilson Tipton was a plasterer.
