CONSTITUTION


OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS.


PREAMBLE.


For the purpose of forming a closer bond among ourselves, and of maintaining our interest in our Alma Mater, we, the alumni of the University of Kansas, do hereby unite ourselves into an association.


ARTICLE I .- Name.


SECTION 1. This organization shall be known as "The Alumni Association of the University of Kansas."


ARTICLE II .- Membership.


SECTION 1. All persons holding degrees granted by the University of Kansas are, ipso facto, members of this association, but active membership shall be limited to those members who have paid their dues for the current year.


SEC. 2. Former students of the University, not graduates, may be admitted as associate members of this association after the graduation of the class with which they were connected, upon payment of the regular annual dues. Such associate members shall have all the privi- leges of active members except that they shall not hold office.


ARTICLE III .- Officers.


SECTION 1. The officers of this association shall be a president, a vice president, a secre -. tary, a treasurer, and a board of directors of ten members, who shall be chosen from the list of active members.


SEC. 2. The president and vice president shall be elected annually at the regular meeting of the association by a majority vote of all active members present. The directors shall hold office for a term of five years, two being elected each year at the annual meeting of the as- sociation, by a majority vote of all active members present. The president shall be ex officio a member of the board of directors. The treasurer and the secretary shall be elected annually by the board of directors.


ARTICLE IV .- Duties of Officers.


SECTION 1. The president shall preside at all meetings of the association. In his absence, he vice president shall take his place.


SEC. 2. The treasurer shall have charge of all funds of the association. He shall pay out noney only on the order of the association or the board of directors, under such regulations s they may prescribe. He may be required to give such bond as the board of directors may equire.


SEC. 3. The secretary shall be the custodian of the offices and property of the association. He shall have charge of the publications of the association, and shall perform such duties as he board of directors may prescribe. He shall give such time to the duties of his office and hall receive such compensation for his services as the board of directors shall determine.


SEC. 4. The board of directors shall conduct the affairs of the association, subject to the rovisions of this constitution and the instructions of the association. They shall receive no ompensation.


ARTICLE V .- Meetings.


SECTION 1. The regular meetings of this association shall be held at the University during mmencement week of each year. Special meetings may be held upon the call of the ard of directors, upon thirty days' notice.

ARTICLE VI .- Dues.


SECTION 1. The regular annual dues of the members of this association hereafter shall be $3 for the academic year, extending from commencement day to commencement day, and shall be paid on or before the first day of January of each year.


SEC. 2. All active and associate members of this association shall receive free all the publications of the association.


SEC. 3. To provide funds necessary for the prosecution of the work of the association there is created the "endowment membership." Those becoming endowment members here- after shall pay into the treasury annually the sum of $7.50. A complete list of holders of endowment memberships shall be published each year.


SEC. 4. Upon application, a fully paid up "life membership" may be issued to any en- dowment member whenever he has paid into the treasury the aggregate of $75.


ARTICLE VII .- Amendments.


SECTION 1. This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the association by a three-fourths vote of the active members present.
