Bedwell's Asylum. Private hospital for insane, located on East Sixth avenue, one mile east of city limits. Stephen A. Bedwell, proprietor.
Christ's Hospital. Grounds occupy an area of fourteen acres, bounded by Eighth and Tenth avenues and West street and Vail avenue. Founded by the late Bishop Vail, and operated under the direction of the Kansas diocese of the Episcopal Church. Charity patients admitted. Accommodations for about 100 patients. Right Rev. Detention Hospital. An annex to the city prison, built by Rev. Charles M. Sheldon, and donated to the city in 1901.
Keith Hospital. (Chartered November 18, 1903. Building located at 603-5 Clay street. Esther Jackson, matron ; Dr. H. H. Keith, surgeon in charge.
State Hospital for the Insane. Located west of city, on Sixth avenue road. Buildings with a capacity of 350 patients, and grounds beautifully laid out, eighty acres in area. T. C. Biddle, M. D., superintendent.
Stormont Hospital, The Jane C. 332 Greenwood avenue. Founded in 1895, by Mrs. Stor- mont, who furnished the means to build the main structure. In 1899 Mrs. (+. G. Gage, at a cost of $15,000, added what is known as the Gage annex. Capacity, about 150 patients. Board of trustees : Jonathan Thomas, president ; Dr. Lewis Y. Grubbs, vice- president ; Frank G.
