ator and served until 1892, when Rev. T. H. Broad- dus was elected as Moderator. 1893, Rev. Campbell was again elected Moderator and served until 1898, when Rev. T. H. Broaddus was again elected Moder- ator and is still serving. The Association is com- posed of 28 churches with a membership of 4,425 and property valuation of $48,600. According to com- putation the Association has raised $5,628.84.
REV. JOHN HENRY EDMUNDS, D.D.
Born in Paris, Tenn. Attended school in the common schools of Paris, Tenn., and State Univer- sity, Louisville, Ky. Was ordained, April 5, 1899. Has pastored three churches, erected two and bap- tized several hundred souls. He taught school for several years. He pastored New Hope Baptist Church, Louisville, for fourteen years. He is now pastoring the Second Baptist Church, Bloomfield, Ky., which he has pastored for seven years with much success.
REV. W. H. CRAIGHEAD, A.B., A.M., D.D.
Born in West Point, Oldham Co., Ky. Attended school at State University, Louisville, Ky. Was or- dained, June, 1890. Pastored two churches, Clay St. and Zion Baptist Church, serving three and one- half years at Clay St. and twenty-one years at Zion where he is now pastoring. Baptized 945 souls. The Zion Baptist Church, Louisville, was built 38 years ago by Rev. M. M. Bell. The following pastors have served : Revs. R. T. Huffman, W. R. Davis, G. E. Scott and W. M. Jamison.

REV. RICHARD REYNOLDS, D.D.
Born in Jefferson Co., Ky. Attended public schools at Louisville. Broom maker and barber by trade. Ordained in 1879. Pastored seven churches, erected four and baptized 1200 souls. The church of which he is pastor at Jeffersontown, Ky., has the distinction of being the oldest one out in Jefferson Co. It was organized in 1830 by Rev. Henry Adams who was pastor of Fifth St. Church, Louisville. The first pastor was Rev. Summerfield, a slave who bought his freedom that he might preach the Gospel. The church has had about 8 pastors. Rev. Reynolds, the present pastor, has been serving 27 years. Is Trustee of State University and Ex- Moderator of The Central District Association.
REV. H. D. COLERANE.
Born in Jessamine Co., December 23, 1857. At- tended the common schools of Lexington and Har- rodsburg. Was licensed, October, 1895, and or- dained, November, 1898. Served in the First Bap- tist Church, Winchester, for twenty-five years as Chorister and Superintendent of the Sunday School. He is now pastoring the Baptist Church at Fal- mouth, Ky., which church he has served three differ- ent times as pastor. In 1900, he erected a new edi- fice at Falmouth and remained with the church until the whole debt was paid. He was called for the third time in 1914. He has baptized 37 souls. He has served on the Executive Board of the General Association and is serving on the Executive Board of the Consolidated Educational District Associa- tion.

REV. LLOYD THOMAS BUCKLER.
Born near Elizabethtown, Hardin Co., Ky. At- tended the common schools of Hardin Co. Was or- dained in 1885. Pastored seven churches, erected two and baptized nearly 800 souls. Now pastoring Tucker's Chapel, Lebanon, Ky. which was organized in 1908 with few members. Rev. John Hardin and Solomon Smith were respectively the first pastors, each serving a short time when death called them. During this period services were held either in the school house or barns. In the autumn of 1911, Rev. Buckler was called as pastor. Land was purchased and in 1912 a building was erected at a cost of sev- eral hundred dollars. The building is near comple- tion, forty souls have been added and the church is in a prosperous condition.
REV. WILLIAM TAYLOR.
Born in Woodford Co., Ky., October 22, 1872. Attended school at State University, Louisville, Ky. Was licensed, April 9, 1896, and ordained, April 19, 1900. Pastored eight churches, erected two and bap- tized 1,000 souls. Has been pastoring twenty years. Had been missionary for the Howard Creek Educa- tional District Association four years. Now pastor- ing Ninth St. Baptist Church, Covington, Ky., where he has been for four years. This church was organ- ized in 1869, the first pastor being Rev. Randolph Campbell. The membership of the church is 350. In 1914, a new edifice was erected at a cost of $8,000 (eight thousand dollars).

Born at Dixon Springs, Tenn. Attended school at Roger Williams University, Nashville, Tenn. Was ordained, October 4, 1912. Pastored three churches and baptized 42 souls. Now pastoring the church at New Castle, Ky., which is forty years old.
REV. WATSON T. JONES, D.D.
Born in Ballard Co., Ky. Attended the common schools. Was ordained, December 28, 1890. Pas- tored fourteen churches, erected three and baptized 1000 souls. Now pastoring St. Paul's Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.
REV. NATHANIEL CALDWELL.
Born in Louisville, Ky., 1845. Bricklayer by trade. Ordained, 1881. Pastored nine churches; erected four and baptized 460 souls. Now pastoring Fox Run Baptist Church of which he has been pas- tor twenty-eight (28) years.
REV. CHARLES BELL SMILEY.
Born in Louisville, Ky. Attended the city schools. Was ordained in 1895. Pastored one church, erected one and baptized 145 souls. He is pastoring the Hill St. Baptist Church which was or- ganized and built in 1896 with a membership of seven. This church membership is now about 200 and expecting to soon erect a new building.

REV. ANDREW J. MOORE, D.D.
Born at Steel Springs, Montgomery Co., Tenn. Attended the Clarksville Normal and Theological School. Was ordained, 1892. Has been pastoring 25 years, during which time he has pastored six churches, erected three and baptized 876 souls. Wrote one book, "Justification by Faith." The Al- lensville Baptist Church, Allensville, of which he is pastor, was organized by Rev. Moses Harding. This edifice was burned and another was erected by Rev. C. C. Vaugh, Russellville, and completed by Rev. M. W. Tyler, Clarksville, Tenn., who pastored the church for 21 years. Rev. Moore was called to the pastorate, June, 1914. The church is worth about $15,000 with a membership of 350 members.
REV. JOHN DANIEL.
Born in Jessamine Co., Ky. Attended school at State University, Louisville, Ky. Was ordained, November 10, 1911. Has pastored two churches, erected one and baptized eleven souls. He is now pastoring the Highland Park Baptist Church, which was organized, September 3, 1907, with seven mem- bers. Not having a house of worship a room was rented in which services were held until 1912 when the present edifice was erected at a cost of $1030. The plot of ground was given by Brother and Sister McGavock. The first pastor was Rev. Simon Suggs. Rev. Daniel was called to the pastorate, November 2, 1913. Under his pastorate the church has grown spiritually and financially ; its membership has in- creased and the debt has been paid down to $131.95, with some money in bank.

REV. HENRY DAVID CARPENTER, D.D.
Born in Allen County, near Scottsville, Ky. At- tended the public schools and Simmons Memorial College. Was ordained in 1889. Pastored six churches, erected two, baptized 700 souls. Wrote one book, "Eagle Eye." New Bethel Baptist Church, of which he is now pastor, was organized in 1889. Has had only two pastors, Rev. J. B. Jones and the present pastor. Under the leadership of Rev. Car- penter the church has increased its membership over 700 members. The church is noted for its rapid growth in membership; its loyalty to the doctrine ; its liberality to education and missions, and its prac- tical manner of worship.
REV. JAS. L. ALLENWORTH, D.D.
Born in Hopkinsville, Ky., August 2, 1845. At- tended the common schools of Christian Co. Painter and paperhanger by trade. Ordained, October, 1870. Pastored seven churches, organized ten churches, built five, and baptized 1500 souls. Now pastoring Forston Hill Baptist Church, which he organized in 1899. He is one of the pioneer preachers of Western Kentucky. He joined the General Association in 1869 at Paducah and has been honored by that body in being appointed to serve in different ways. He has served as first president of First District Sunday School Convention ; as Coroner of Christian County for four years ; as trustee of M. & F. College since its organization; as Moderator of the M. and D. meeting of the General Association and as a mem- ber of the Executive Board of the General Associa- tion.

REV. GEORGE F. WATSON, D.D.
Born at Auburn, Logan Co., Ky. Attended the public schools of Logan Co. and State University, Louisville. Was ordained, 1899, pastored two churches, erected one and baptized 500 souls. Wrote one book of Sermons and Sketches. The Antioch Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky., of which he is now pastor, was organized, 1873, by Rev. Chas. Oldham. It has had 20 pastors. Its name was St. John. The name was changed in 1896 under the pastorate of Rev. Wm. Johnson. Rev. Watson took charge of Antioch, September, 1898. In 1901, erected the pres- ent edifice and is on the verge of erecting a $12,000 edifice.
REV. WILLIAM HENRY WILLIAMS, D.D.
Born in Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky. Attended common schools of Jessamine Co., and State Uni- versity, Louisville. Was ordained, September, 1900. Pastored two churches; baptized 600 souls. The present church he is now pastoring, 4th St. Baptist Church, Owensboro, was organized, 1830. It was the first house of worship in Owensboro and was built of logs. The present structure is of brick and was erected at a cost of $30,000. The following have pastored: Revs. Isom Howard, Stephen Griffith, G. W. Dupee, S. Berry, Caldwell E. Newsom, Mosses Harding, C. H. Clark, S. E. Smith, A. D. Hurt. Rev. W. H. Williams was called to this church, 1910. It is in a prosperous condition.

Born in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. Attended school at New Providence, Tenn., and Roger Wil- liams University. Was ordained in 1894. Has pas- tored seven churches; erected three, and baptized 1256 souls. Rebuilt the church on modern plan at Elkton, Ky., and the church he is now pastoring at Providence, Ky., known as the Pleasant Hill Bap- tist Church, at a cost of $7,000. Also pastor of the Guilfield Baptist Church, Guthrie, Ky., and Modera- tor of the Cumberland River, Middle Tennessee and South District Association.
REV. WILLIAM THOMAS SILVEY, D.D.
Born in Xenia, Ohio. Attended the common schools. Carpenter and blacksmith by trade. Was ordained in 1875. Pastored ten churches; erected fourteen and baptized 2500 souls. Was called to his present charge, First Baptist Church, Frankfort, Ky., June, 1905. Under his pastorate the present edifice, costing $40,000, was erected. The building is nearly paid for and the church is alive to all the interests of the denomination.
REV. HARRISON KENNEDY.
Born at Brandenburg, Ky. Was ordained, No- vember, 1913. Pastored one church and erected one. The Harrods Creek Baptist Church, of which he is pastor, was organized in May, 1891, by Rev. Miller.

During the twenty-four years it has been pastored by the following ministers: Revs. John Roddy, Jesse Stewart, A. Harris, E. T. Offut, Robt. Butler, Jackson Riley and Ben Welch. The edifice was blown down in 1913 and re-erected the same year with a beautiful building costing $3,000. It is free from all debts and has a membership of 90.
REV. WM. FOSTER, B.D.
Born in Todd, Ky., November, 1857. Received a common school education and taught in the schools of Todd and Logan counties four years. Entered the ministry, 1886, and pastored the following churches: Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Earlington, served 12 years; Corinth Baptist Church, served 8 years. Pastoring at present the 7th St. Baptist Church, Paducah. Served as president of the First District Sunday School Convention 12 years. At present Moderator First District Association; has already served two years.
CLAY ST. BAPTIST CHURCH, SHELBY- VILLE, KY.
The Clay Street Baptist Church was organized by Rev. W. J. Brown, 1859, who served two years. Rev. Grigsby preached to this body before its or- ganization. The following have pastored this con- gregation : Revs. Clark, 10 years; M. Allen, 12 years, by whom the present building was erected; A. A. Russell, six years; T. Huffman, a very short time; H. W. Jones, three years. Rev. Wm. Brown, the present pastor was called to this charge, 1907. He remodeled the church, making it quite attractive.

Members added since his pastorate, 215. The church is well organized and doing a great work; is wide- awake to education and mission work. Rev. Brown has been in the ministry twenty-three years and pas- toring for twenty years.
WALTER PHILIP OFFUTT, A.B., B. Th.
Born in Logan County, Ky. Attended school at State University, Louisville, Ky. Converted, Sep- tember 23, 1897. Ordained, June 4, 1912. Pastored two churches and baptized 56 persons. Rev. Offutt is now pastoring Second Baptist Church, Lagrange, Ky.
SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH, LAGRANGE, KENTUCKY
Was organized about the year 1870, by Rev. War- ren Lewis. Rev. Lewis was succeeded by Rev. James Mortin, under whose administration the church was divided. After his resignation, Rev. N. Caldwell took charge and succeeded in bringing the factions together and moved to the present location. Others who have served are: Revs. R. Reynolds, E. T. Offutt, J. R. Riddles, H. W. Snowden, Edward Brown and the present pastor, Rev. W. P. Offutt.
LEWIS CLEMENTS
The son of William and Louisa Clements, was born in Nortonsville, Ky., 1869. He is now a citizen of Morton's Gap, Ky., where he has lived for several years. Being a coal miner, by thrift and economy, he has accumulated property to the value of more than $2,000.

REV. C. D. BLAKEMORE.
Born in Oldham Co., Ky. Attended the Com- mon Schools and took a course in the American Col- lege, Chicago, Ill. Ordained, June, 1892. Pastored seven churches, erected two; and baptized 450 souls. Rev. Blakemore is pastoring the Second Baptist Church, Campbellsburg, which was organized, 1872, by Rev. P. O. Bannon, who was its first pastor. Rev. Blakemore has been pastor of above church for more than twenty years. It has a membership of 175 and property valued at $1,000 with no indebtedness.
REV. JAMES FRANKLIN ADAMS.
Born in Boyle Co., Ky. Attended school at Berea. Ordained, Nov. 22, 1888. Pastored one church and erected one. Rev. Adams is pastoring the Baptist Church at Atoka, Ky., which was or- ganized, May 18, 1890, by himself, assisted by Revs. C. C. Bate and Wallace Fisher and which he has pastored ever since. He has kept it in the front rank along all lines of Denominational duties. Mem- bership, 60.
NEW MISSION BAPTIST CHURCH, DANVILLE, KY.
Organized, 1892, by Rev. Wallace Fisher, with 14 members. Thirteen from the old Green St. Bap- tist Church and one from the Centennial Baptist Church, Harrodsburg. The following were in the organization : Wallace Fisher, Horace Nelson, Ed- ward Miller, Josie Miller, Jesse Jones, Louis Buster, Polly Davis, Jacob Frye, Hannah Davis, Lucinda

Gregory, Horace Fox, Elijah Frye, Washington Hunn and Ella Smith. They worshipped in a hall until they were able to purchase the present lot and erect a frame building. Rev. Wallace Fisher, the first pastor, served for 16 years, increasing the mem- bership and erecting the first building. He also started the present concrete building which neared completion, under the pastorate of Rev. J. N. Smothers. The following have served this church as pastor: Rev. W. Fisher, 16 years; Rev. A. A. Russell, 9 months; Licentiate, Jas. Gilbert, supplied 7 or 8 months ; Rev. J. N. Smothers, 4 years, and the present pastor, Rev. Melville M. D. Perdue, Louis- ville, took charge, June 13, 1915. Church member- ship, 350. Valuation of church property, $15,000.
REV. MELVILLE MARTIN DUPEE PERDUE.
Born in Franklin, Ky. Attended the Central High School and State University, Louisville, Ky. Ordained, August 3, 1915. Pastored one church. Wrote "Workshop and Trial of Aaron Burr."

GREEN ST. CHURCH, LOUISVILLE, KY.
Green St. Baptist Church was organized in 1842. The following have pastored the church: Revs. George Wells, Richard Sneethen, D. A. Gaddie, and H. W. Jones, present pastor. Some of the leading ministers of the State and country have been or- dained here. It has enrolled 3,000 members since - its organization. In the past three years has taken in $12,000. Has always stood in the front rank in educational, missionary and benevolent work. Has a large and increasing Sunday School; three excel- lent choirs; an enthusiastic Brotherhood; a Boys' Band; a College Society ; a Sewing Circle ; a Willing Workers' Society; three Benevolent organizations, and a strong B. Y. P. U. Strangers and visitors al- ways find a cordial welcome here.
REV. J. FRANCIS WILSON.
Born Harrodsburg, Mercer Co., Ky., October, 1870. Ordained, August, 1897. Pastored three churches, two in America and one in Africa. His first charge was at Flemingsburg, and second, Fal- mouth, Ky., both of which he resigned to go to Africa. Near two years were spent in South Africa in the interest of Baptist Missions. On his return he brought three native African children and entered them at State University. He served 5 years as editor of Lexington Standard, 7 years as District

Missionary of Consolidated Association, and now serving his eleventh year as State Organizer, B. Y. P. U. in Kentucky. He was lately commissioned by the General Association as State Missionary of Sun- day Schools. He, with others, organized the State Sunday School Convention, May 26, 1915, at Rich- mond, Ky.
REV. JAMES OLIVER GRIFFIN.
Born at Clinton, Hinds Co., Miss. Attended the Normal Schools at Bouina, Alcorn and Jackson, Miss. Brick mason by trade. Ordained, 1883. Pas- tored nine churches, erected seven and baptized 8075 souls. Rev. Griffin organized the 8th St. Tabernacle Baptist Church, Paducah, now known as the Harri- son St. Baptist Church and served as pastor for a number of years. During his pastorate of said church, 480 members were added to the church and $10,000 raised. Rev. Ivory is the present pastor.
REV. WALLACE FISHER.
Born at Danville, Boyle Co., Ky. A slave and owned by the late John Craig. He remained a slave up to the age of sixteen when he joined the Union Army to fight for his freedom. He served three years during which time he was converted. Rev. Fisher preached 47 years, during which time he pas- tored the following churches: Perryville, 7 years ; Junction City, 2 years; Mount Salem, 4 years, and New Mission, Danville, 16 years. Baptized and ad- ded to different churches nearly 3500 souls. He also served as an evangelist. Taught school eleven years

and served as councilman of Danville two years. Although Rev. Fisher is not pastoring he is still active in church work.
REV. WM. DICKERSON, B.D.
Born at Trenton, Todd Co., Ky. Attended Roger Williams and Atkins Colleges. Ordained, April 15, 1894. Pastored eight churches, erected three, and baptized 366 souls. Wrote one book. Rev. Dicker- son is now pastoring the Rocky Hill Baptist Church, Wallonia, Ky., which was organized, 1875, by Rev. Tom Ladd, and the Bloomfield Baptist Church, Cadiz, Ky., which was organized, 1905, by Rev. G. W. Darden, B.D.
REV. JOHN HENRY HENDERSON.
Born at Cynthiana, Ky., June 9, 1851. Attended the Common Schools of Cynthiana. Ordained, Nov. 25, 1885. Pastored five churches, erected one and baptized 1369 souls.
VIRGINIA AVE. BAPTIST CHURCH, LOUIS- VILLE, KY.
The Nebulan Baptist Church was organized in 1892, by Revs. C. C. Bate, J. H. Mitchell, Richard Hyman, and John Jackson, in a school house on Orleans Ave. The following have pastored the church: Revs. J. H. Mitchell, Washington; J. R. Simmons, C. H. Sands, W. A. Jones under whose charge the church was moved from Orleans Ave. to 36th St. and Virginia Ave. He reorganized the

church and gave it the name of Virginia Ave. Bap- tist church. He erected, in 1901, the present house of worship. Then came Revs. T. L. Ballon, G. J. Sebree and the present pastor, Rev. A. H. Shumake, who took charge, July, 1913, under whose leader- ship the membership has increased over 100. Each man served well in his time.
REV. A. H. SHUMAKE.
Ordained, 1902. Pastored the following church- es : Warsaw, serving 5 years; Second Baptist Church, Rushville, Ind., remodeled the church at an expense of $600, served 5 years; Virginia Ave Bap- tist Church, taking charge, July 18, 1913. Faithfully has he served the people of these places. Since pas- toring the Virginia Ave. Church he has added 102 by baptism. He has married in the 12 years, 33 couples. Rev. Shumake possesses fine executive ability and is successful in all his undertakings.
THE COLUMBIA BAPTIST CHURCH
Of which Rev. D. A. Rice is pastor, was organ- ized 38 years ago. The following have pastored : Revs. George Stone, Peter Vinegar, Henry Brown, G. S. Goodloe, L. Z. Buckler and present pastor. Pleasant Union Church also is pastored by Rev. Rice. Since its organization the following ministers have served : Revs. Sam Carter, T. Durbit, George Gaddie, J. J. Brown, P. H. Cowherd and D. A. Rice. This church has a membership of 300. Both church- es are strong in the Bible doctrine.

REV. JOHN HENRY PERDUE, D.D.
Born 16 miles north of Gallatin, Sumner Co., Tenn. Attended the common schools. Carpenter by trade. Ordained, October 20, 1881. Pastored six churches; erected the following churches: White Hill and Middletown, Simpson Co .; Auburn and Friendship, Logan Co. Baptized about 4,000 souls. Rev. Perdue is now pastoring Emmanuel Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky. He accepted this charge, August, 30, 1898, having served here, as pastor, sev- enteen years. When he accepted the charge there was an indebtedness of $20,000 on the property. This has been entirely canceled and the current expenses of the church kept up. During these seventeen years 800 persons have been added to the member- ship.

Pastor Consolidated Baptist Church, Lexington, Ky. A writer of sacred songs and poems under the title of "The Songs That Never Die." Author of "The Pearly Gates."
THE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, GREENVILLE, KY.
Was organized at Needmore, Ky., February 27, 1872. It was removed from Needmore to Greenville, its present location. It was organized with 56 mem- bers, by Rev. Ben Rogers, assisted by Rev. Musel, Secretary G. W. Stark. Rev. Rogers pastored the church from its organization to 1897. Rev. C. Dav- idson pastored ten years. Revs. G. R. Ford is the present pastor.

Born in Giles Co., Tenn. Attended State Uni- versity, Louisville, Ky. Plasterer by trade. Or- dained, May 12, 1914. Pastored one church and bap- tized five persons.
JUNCTION CITY BAPTIST CHURCH
Was organized by Rev. Wallace Fisher, 1872, with a few members, among whom were Brother Joe Ball and wife and Rosie Ball Carpenter. Sister Rosie Carpenter is the only living member of this organization. She is the wife of Rev. S. Carpenter, who is the present pastor. Rev. Wallace Fisher be- came the pastor and served several years. Services were conducted under trees. The first building be- ing a log cabin too dark to see how to read or write. Others in the organization were: Jack May Owen and wife, Peter Douglas, Lewis Harris and wife, Wm. McFarren, Jordan Wallace and wife, Amanda Able.
HISTORY OF MAIN STREET BAPTIST CHURCH, LEXINGTON, KY.
In the year of 1854, the Rev. F. Braxton took charge of First Baptist Church on Deweese and Short Streets and built the present house of worship and remained with them until 1862. There was a dissension growing out of their political views and Rev. Braxton with 500 persons took letters in a coffee sack and with Samuel Johnson brought them to the present site on Main and Locust Streets. The Independent Baptist Church was organized, Rev.
