REPORT OF ENGINEERS.

TO THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN :

Gentlemen,- We beg leave to report the Fire Department in good and effective condition.

The Engine and Hook and Ladder Company are well officered and well organized, and composed of men ready and willing to respond to every call of duty.

The apparatus is in good order and well cared for.

We tested all the hose, and found five hundred feet unfit for use, which we had relined. We also purchased six hundred feet of new hose, making eighteen hundred feet of good serviceable hose in the department.

We recommend the building of two reservoirs, one on North Street and one on Pleasant Street, said reservoirs to be filled by pipes or hose running from Searle, Dailey & Co.'s Straw Factory. In case of fire, the town is in need of some such water supply on North and Pleasant Streets.
