TRUSTEES' REPORT.


The financial condition will be found in the report of Selectmen.


The usual appropriation of $100 and dog tax will be sufficient for the needs of the library for the ensuing year.


The following-named periodicals have been subscribed for the present year, and can be obtained on the seven-day plan upon application to the Librarian : Cosmopolitan, Scribner's, Harper's Monthly and Weekly, Leslie's Illustrated News and Popular Monthly, Century, Scientific American, St. Nicholas, Review of Reviews, Munsey's, and Arena.


The following donations have been received : books and speci- mens from Miss Harriet A. Fowle; books from Mrs. J. J. Adams ; History of the Town of Harvard from Mr. W. Hapgood, through Mr. E. Chamberlain ; History of Town of Oxford from Historical Society (they having duplicate).

Gentlemen,-We report our Fire Department in first-class condi- tion. Both companies are fully manned and finely officered. The machines are in tiptop order, and ready for use. We have had five fires during the year : -


April 29, fire in woods on land of Samuel Ellis. Cause un- known.


May 19, Centre Depot. Cause, struck by lightning.


August 18, fire in woods on land of H. W. Smith. Cause, burning brush.


September 29, hay-stack in rear of Charles Warner's house. Cause, children playing with matches.


November 4, hay-stack of Joseph A. Allen. Cause, incendiary.
