Road Report: June 1829.


The dubcribers a Committee chosen by the Town to examine the Road in front of Mr. William Byan's house and report on the expediency of widening the same have attended to thier duty and would submit to them the following Report viz That it is necessary that said road should be widened and that we have laid it out as follows __ begining ut the Northwest borner on land of Gali Zacheus Weight and running Westerly on land of Samuel Parkhurst to the northeast corner of Henry Byjums land being one rod wide in the widest place and running to a point at cach end. We' estimated the cramage of the land of Samuel Parkhurst at twelve dollars which Ihr. Was. Byam agrees to pay provided the town move the wall and wider the road _ all of which is submitted to the consideration of the town by

I'ne Suberiber having been appointed by the town at their last Town Meeting an agent to cause the new highway from Suropit Hill to Ezekiel Byanis Store to be examined by the County commisiones or the purpose of afsertainery whether said road was made acceptable to said Commissioners has attended to the duty ofsigned him as will appear by the Report of said commissioners herewith submitted .


The Commissioners have changed for this Services and expenses the sum of eighteen dollars which sume the suberiber respectfully requests the Town to order out of the Town Treasury for the purpose of paying said Commissioners

We the Subscribers bounty commisiones for the Country of Middleser hereby certi is that it is our usual multice To order the bounty highways by us land out to be constructed in the following manner viz. - Laid out Brodtwice; haveled vart inade convenient for the surge Damages "24 sent in width; small inequalities levelled and farger rises and with reduced to an angle of not more than 4 degrees with the horizon low grounds raised a feet above the natural surface; and 18 inches crowning in all places; store slunceways to be in all places necessary to conduct away water- sturings stores and all other obstructions to be taken out of the way and the whole to be levelled, servothed a made of suitable materials in a workmanlike manner.

Agent for the town of Chechensfor viewed and examined a road lately laid out by the Selection of Chelmsford how near the house of said Adams to Mr. Ezekiel By anis Store; and we find that said road has not been constructed and made in the manner by us usually ordered in the following particulars viz. It is not in all places opened to the width of 3 rocks It is not made convenient for the passage of carriages to the width of 24 feet; but in most places it is not more than 20 feet- Several places require sliceways where are nove - The Hills in many places are at a greater angle with the horizon than 4 degrees varning pour 4 to 71/2 degrees. Small inequalities are not sufficiently levelled and somoovin ed. starijis & stones are in some places left in the travelle part: and is not in all places properly and in a working like manner completed & finished
