Services :


Five new services were laid requiring 367'-9" of 1" cement lined pipe. Sixteen leaks in services were repaired. Nine services were renewed. Twelve services were repaired.

Hydrants:


New-one on Hanover Street, Newbury.


Replaced-Corner of Broad and Monroe Streets; Washington near Strong Street. Nine hydrants repaired. Hydrant opposite Dove Street on Merrimac Street discontinued.


6" gate for hydrant on Highland Avenue.


Mains:


Repaired leaks in mains as follows :


Merrimac near Olive Street, High near Oakland Street and Cherry Street.


Meters:


Two new meters were set and eight removed. Eight meters replaced, two repaired and five frozen.


Gates:


New 6" Gate Monroe near Broad Street.


New 6" Gate Washington near Strong Street.


New 12" Gate State opposite Middle Street. New 14" Gate Merrimac near Boardman Street.


General:


Four inch service for Hytron Corp. Repaired and painted roof and walk on Myrtle Avenue Standpipe. All gate boxes raised. New flagpole at main station.

CITY OF NEWBURYPORT In City Council


April 6, 1942.


ORDERED:


That an act of the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, approved by His Excellency, the Governor, on October 29, 1941 and entitled "an act relative to the registration and operation of certain bicycles," be and is hereby accepted in behalf of the City of Newburyport.


Councillor Curley moved that the act be accepted, seconded by Councillor Hardy. Adopted.

Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Newburyport as follows:


An Ordinance relating to the Compensation of all laborers employed by the High- way Department, Tree Department and Park Department.


Section 1. The salary of all laborers of the Highway Department, Tree Depart- ment, and Park Department is hereby fixed at the sum of Sixty-Two and one half cents (6212) per hour.


Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final passage by the City Coun- cil.
