The reason for the increase in abatements is that the legislature in 1949 liberalized the Veterans Exemption Laws and others, to include more persons to qualify for the exemptions.


Many new homes have been built during the year at Prospect Park, Moseley Park, Worcester Heights, Menut Acres and Chase St. A new theatre at the corner of Pleasant and Titcomb Streets; a Veteran's Housing Project of four units started late in December and a new factory building at the corner of Warren and Monroe Streets.
