ART. 6. Land for a hose house at Wyoming.


Report of selectmen recommending the lot of land at the junction of Lynde and Main streets, known as the Barry homestead, as a suitable location, accepted.


Voted, That the treasurer be authorized to borrow a suffi- cient amount not exceeding eight hundred dollars, which to- gether with the amount raised in 1887, viz: $1200, and the sums acquired from the sale of the Vinton street school building which was invested in land on Main street, which land has by vote of the town been sold and the proceeds refunded to the treasury, be used for the purchase of the lot of land at the corner of Main and Lynde streets and that the selectmen be "authorized to dispose of the buildings thereon.

ART 17. Voted, That the board of health with Moses Briggs and Thomas W. Ripley be a committee to examine into and consider what action the town shall take in relation to the pond at the Highlands, and report at a subsequent

meeting, and if in their opinion an appropriation is needed, an article in relation to the same shall be inserted in the warrant.


ART. 7. Street signs.


Voted, Unanimously, That the treasurer be authorized to borrow one hundred and fifty dollars for the purpose of plac- ing street signs where needed throughout the town.


ART. 8. Endeavour engine and hearse.


Voted, That the selectmen be authorized to dispose of Endeavour engine and the town hearse and use such portion of the proceeds as may be deemed necessary for the build- ing of a shed in the town pound.


ARTS. 9. and 14. Stone crossings.


Voted, Unanimously, that the Treasurer borrow five hun- dred dollars, that the selectmen be authorized to put in stone crossings in such streets as in their judgment are re- quired.


ART. 10. Numbering buildings. Voted, That the Treas- urer borrow twenty-five dollars for the purpose of number- ing buildings.


ART. II. Finance Committee. Voted, Unanimously, that a committee of nine be appointed to take into consideration the amounts necessary to be raised and appropriated for the year 1891. Also to examine into the different systems adopted by other towns for the transaction of town busi- ness, and that they be requested to report in print previous to the annual meeting in March next. Voted, To accept Park street, as laid out, that the Treasurer borrow four hundred dollars, three hundred of which shall be applied for the building and grad- ing of the street and so much of the balance ($100), as may be required for the removal of house of Thomas Cassell from the lines of said street.


Voted, To accept so much of Highland street, as laid out, as lies between Cliff street and a private way known as Ash- land street. Treasurer authorized to borrow four hundred dollars for the building of the same.


Voted, To accept Baxter street, as widened, relocated, and extended. Treasurer authorized to borrow one hundred dollars to complete the building of same.


Voted, To accept the extension of Sanford street, as laid out.


Voted, To accept Whittier street, as laid out, which in- cludes street laid out as Sibley street and accepted condi- tionally in 1889.


Voted, To accept Cutter street, as laid out.


ART. 15. Fire alarm system. Voted, That the fire alarm system be extended and that boxes be located as follows: one near Upham street school-house, one corner of Wash- ington and Trenton streets, and one on Woodland avenue at the Highlands; that plans be made showing said locations, and that the selectmen award the contract for placing said boxes and extending the system, to the lowest bidder.

ART. 16. Water bonds. Voted, That the Treasurer be au- thorized to sell two Water Fund bonds, proceeds to be ap- plied for construction.


ART. 17. Treasurer authorized to pay expenses. Voted, Unanimously, that the Treasurer be authorized to pay all necessary expenses, which may be incurred from January I to April 1, 1891, in anticipation of the annual appropriations of the year.


Letter read from the City Solicitor of Cambridge to the selectmen, relating to the petition of the Metropolitan Sew- erage Commissioners to the Supreme Judicial Court for the appointment of Commissioners under the Statute, to deter- mine the proportion which each of the several cities and towns interested shall pay of the cost of maintenance and operation of the sewer of the North Metropolitan Sewerage System.


Voted, That the board of selectmen be instructed to con- fer with counsel without pay, and with counsel and officers of other cities and towns interested, in relation to the ap- pointment of said Board.


Verbal report of selectmen relating to title of ledge on Maple street.


Voted, That they be instructed to take the deed and also take possession of the top of said ledge which was, at one time, set apart for public use.


ART. 12. Ledge, Cedar Park. l'oted, That the Treasurer borrow one hundred dollars for the purpose of removing ledge in Cedar park and concreting the sidewalk opposite said estate.

Previous to adjournment, the Town Clerk having been called to the chair, it was unanimously voted, that a com- mittee consisting of F. S. Hesseltine, George T. Brown and Wilbur D. Fiske, be instructed to prepare or procure a suit- able testimonial to be presented Levi S. Gould for the faith- ful and impartial manner in which he has discharged his duties as Moderator, this being his sixtieth election to the office and the 114th meeting, including adjournments, over which he has presided without compensation.


Voted, To adjourn sine die.
