INSTRUCTIONT TO KEY-HLODERS.
Upon the discovery of fire, go to the nearest box, open the same, and pull the hook down once only, then let go; listen, if the gong in the box strikes ; if not, pull again. If you fail the second time, go to the next near- est box, and do the same.
Remain at the box. if possible, after giving an alarm, to direct the firemen to the fire. Do not give an alarm for a fire seen at a distance.
Be sure the box is closed before leaving it.
If you remove from your house or place of business, return the key to the Chief Engineer.
Key-holders will bear in mind that their key will be " trapped " when used, and will be returned to them by an Engineer
Citizens are earnestly requested to keep themselves informed as to the location of keys to signal boxes. Signs over each box will give the desired information.
