His daughters were Hannah Lane. Lydia Potter, Cuice, wife of John Farley, married Sept. 1761, and Abigail wife of Abraham Dodge. Mr. Francis Cogswell was married to Elizabeth Rogers, March 15, 1728. A grave stone of which the bottom part only re- mains, stood close to that of Mr. Francis Cogswell, and appears to have been made of the same kind of stone. and of the same age. The foot stone is entire, and contains this inscription :

John 2, without any addition to his name, subscribes toward the compensation to Major Denison, 1618. He was according to Far- zner. born about 1618 ; his name with the addition of "senior," is in "list of those that by law are allowed to have their votes in Town af- fairs," 1670 ; tithingman, 1077 ; freeman, 1682; selectman, 1664-69. In the record of his death, which occurred Sept. 20, 1584, he is called John Dane, chirugeon. The inventory of bis estate amounted to 4691. 11, 5.
Francis. probably son of John, according to Farmer, was "the sec- ond minister of Andover, came over it is said with Rev. Nathaniel Rogers in 1636. He was ordained about 1648; amd died 17 Feb.

1696-7, in his 82nd year.$ He subscribed towards the compensation of Major Denison. 1648. In a list of inhabitants that have shares in Plum Island, 1664, the name of John Dane, without addition occurs twice, once among those who are entitled to a share and a half, or four and a half acres. and again among those who are entitled to one share, or three acres. The people were divided for the purpose of this distribution into three classes. The first class consisted of those who "paid more than sixteen shilling in a single country rate, togeth- er with the magistrates, ellers, Messrs John Rogers and Thomas An- drews." These were entitled to a double share, or six acres. The second class was of such as paid more than six shillings and eight pence, and not more than sixteen shillings. These had one share and a half. The third class were of those whose rates did not exceed six shillings and eight pence, who had one share, or three aeres. There were twenty-seven of the first class ; sixty-nine of the second : and one hundred and thirty-four of the third. It is probable that one of these Johns was John 2. senior, and the other, John 3, junior, his SON.
The will of *John 2. chirugeon, was proved Sept. 30. 1684. He left a wife and two sons. John 3 and Philemon 3; also daughters, Eliza- beth and Sarah ; a grand daughter, fMary Chandler, and a grandson, Daniel Hovey.

John 3, son of John 2, married Jan. 27, 1691, Sarah Wells. They had Sarah born Jan 9, 1692, Liddia, Oct. 27, 1694, John. Sept. 27, 1696. Sarah, wife of John, died January 14, 1702-5 ; he died Feb. 28. 1722. aged 57 years and 10 days.
Thomas 2, son Robert 1, with his wife Anna, had a daughter Mary, who died August 27, 1685, and another to whom they gave the same name, born April 30, 1686. They had Ann, born Sept. 24, 1675. Sarah, born Jan. 4, 1674, Robert, March 14, 1679 ; he was freeman, -Vay 7. 1673, commoner, 1707, and died March 19, 1717-18, aged 75. James 2 son of Rob't 1, with Susanna, bad Robert b. Jan 14, 1684.
DAVISON, George, purchased a farin of Thomas French, tailor, April 1. 1617.
Daniel and Sarah had Sarah born March 29, 1786, Daniel. born March 23, 1690. His will is dated Dec. 5, 1693 : he left a wife and sons William. John, Thomas, Peter, and daughters Bridget, Dorcas, Margarate, born Sept. 24, 1658, Sarah, March 30, 1660. A child died July 1666. Property. house, barn, &c.
William, son of Daniel with Mary his wife, had Mary born Sept. 23. 1493, Margaret, June 22,' 1095. Lydia, Jan. 21, 1697, Anne July 15, 1703. Daniel had a seat sssigned to him in the meeting house, 1700.

DENISON, Daniel, son of William of Roxbury, who was born about 1612 ; admitted a freeman at Boston, April 1, 1634, when he has the title of Mr. Under the marginal date, 1635, on the town re- cords, he has a grant of "'an house lot near the mill, containing about two acres, which he hath paled in and built in house upon." This house and lot he sold to Ilumphrey Griffin. Sept. 3, 1634, it is or- dered by General Court that Mr. Daniel Denison and 8 others, "or the maior part of them, shall have power to sett out the bounds of all townes not yet sett out." March 9, 1636-7, he receives his commi,- sion as " Captaine." In 1648, Oct. 12, there is granted to him "two hundred acres of land lying upon the line between this town and Sa- lem, on Jeffries Creek, beyond Mr. Hubbard's farm, not prejudi cing former grant, nor the cow common, "for his better encouragment to settle among us."
