Orleans, Massachusetts May 7, 1961
A semi-annual meeting of the First Universalist Society of Orleans, Massachusetts, was held on the above date in the Universalist Church building in Orleans. The meeting was called to order at 12:30 P. M., by President Snow.
Present were: Mr. & Mrs. Harry H. Snow, Mr. Eldredge E. Sparrow, Mrs. Beula D. Sparrow, Miss Sandra A. Sparrow, Mr. Edward C. Blake, Miss Lillian F. Edwards, and Rev. Norman R. Farnum.
The call was read.
Rev. Farnum reported on meeting with Mr. James Mott of the Universalist Church in Provincetown who is the co-ordinator for this district. According to Rev. Mott there is no need for voting on the Universalist- Unitarian merger.
H vote would in no way affect our relationship with the Mass. Universalist Convention. A number of churches have taken no action. To keep in good standing with the Mass. Convention we must comply with the following requirements :
1. Make donations to the National and State Societies.
2. Make an Annual report.
3. Have our minister in the fellowship.
4. Hold the required number of meetings.
We are complying with all except "2" and Rev. Farnum is preparing the report now.
The church building needs some attention: plaster is falling, stones at steps should be covered, chairs should be repaired. These needs will be referred to the Property Committee.
An organ may be available for the early services in July and August.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:05 P. M.
Respectfully submitted, Lección J. Edwarda Lillian F. Edwards, Clerk
