U. 1730; an amiable man, and very popular till the revolutionary troubles commenced, when being on the side of government, one of the 19 Rescinders so called, and a Mandamus Counsellor, he became a Refugee, and died very soon after on Long Island. The three Josiah Edsons commonly called in aftertimes " Old Justice Ed- son, Old Capt. Edson, and Old Col. Edson," were all distin- guished men both in Church and State.
