SAMUEL HALL served his apprenticeship with his uncle, Daniel Fowle, the first printer in N.H. He published, in 1768, the " Essex Gazette," at Salem, whence he removed, in 1775, to Cambridge, where he published the " N. E. Chronicle." He moved this latter to Boston the next year. He published the " Salem Gazette" again, in 1781; and, in 1785, the " Massa- chusetts Gazette." In 1789, he opened a book-store in Boston, which he sold to Lincoln and Edmands in 1805, to whom Gould and Lincoln are the successors. He died Oct. 10, 1807. 66-130 MOSES HALL m.
