The Council was opened with prayer by the Moderator.
And after attending to certain documents from the Church & So- ciety containing their invitation to Mr. Humphrey & likewise to papers containing his answer & his dismission from his Pastoral relation to the church in Fairfield they proceeded to examine him as to his knowledge of theology & his personal acquaintance with experimental religion- And having in their view found him well qualified to preach the Gospel & to take charge of a branch of the Church of Christ.
