1823 P.150-May 8 Thursday. At a church meeting holden at the Lecture
room. Mir . James Hubbard presented his petition anew to be dismissed into the world from the watch & care of this church.
Voted that the request cannot be granted & that he have leave to withdraw his petition. In order to bring his case to a final close in the church the following pre- amble & vote were presented & passed.
Where as Mr. James Hubbard a member of this church long ago began to express conscientious scruples about com- ing with us to the table of the Lord on account of his dis sent from us in regard to infant baptism. Whereas on this ground he has once & again requested a dismission from this Church into the world .
Whereas upon mature deliberation we have been and are still satisfield that the request can not consistently be granted; but if he withdraw he must do it upon his own responsibility.
Whereas Mr. Hubbard has in the meantime withdrawn from our communion.
Whereas all our efforts to remove his scruples or per - Sude him to return have proved unavailing & he still declares that he cannot conscientiously commune with us so long as we hold to & practice infant Baptism, And Whereas by thus withdrawing he has virtually cut him- self off from the communion of this Church & there ap- pears no rational prospect of his return. There fore Voted, that he is no longer to be regarded as a member with us & we hereby declare ourselves discharged from any further

H. Humphrey, Pastor
June 5. Thursday Met accord to adjournment .
The following report was read & accepted.
The Committee appointed at the last meeting to enquire into the case of Robert Spencer , Report that they have received such in- formation as leaves no room to doubt the said Spencer has at di- vers times within three years last past been guilty of stealing money from various individuals, merchants & others in the town of Auburn, N.Y. & that to escape punishment fled to parts unknown.
