Goldsmith Warren H., Instructor in Scovil's System of Stenography. The distinctive features of this system are : 1st, That it provides a character for each letter of the alphabet, without shading, as in the Pitman method. 2d, The vowels are not represented by minute dots or dashes, but by straight lines or curves, all of which may be joined to the consonant stems, thus rendering the writing more legible than the ordinary systems. 3d, It is not phonetic, only so far as to shorten the process where silent letters occur, and hence the ordinary orthography answers all practical purposes. A complete knowledge of the system is embraced in a course of twenty lessons, which may be had orally or by letter. Terms on application. P. O. box 1006. Boards Mills' block, corner Main and Union streets. Rooms 176 Bridge street.
