More than Four- Fifths of the advantages derived from the Improvement we give to the Trade, and for less than Twenty per cent. we do the Labor.

No. 82 BEEKMAN ST., NEW YORK, May 28, 1857.

To the Newton Copper Type Company.

GENTLEMEN-I have now thoroughly tested your improvement (having had it in use for more than four years. ) I have found it to pre- serve the original sharpness and form of type remarkably, and for my purposes (stereotyping and electrotyping) I think the Coppered type will do at least THREE times the work of the uncoppered.

Yours truly, THOMAS B. SMITH.

We endorse the above, May, 1874.

SMITH & MCDOUGAL.

63 CORTLANDT STREET, NEW YORK, June 20, 1864.

For the past eight years we have had all new fonts of type coppered by the NEWTON COP- PER COMPANY. Many of these fonts are still in active service and in fair condition, although we use cylinder presses almost exclusively. We think no job printer can ever be repaid for his outlay in the purchase of script and fine orna- mental types unless he has thiem Copper-faced.

FRANCIS HART & CO.

We endorse the above, May, 1874.

FRANCIS HART & CO.

In estimating the Cost of Copper-facing at the following prices, the Quadrats and Spaces-usually one-fifth of the weight-must be deducted, as the Letter ONLY is Copper-faced, which makes the Cost of Copper-facing less than Twenty per cent advance at present prices on the Type Founder's bill.

Parties desiring their Type Coppered, are requested to bear in mind that WE ARE NOT TYPE-FOUNDERS, that WE NEITHER BUY NOR SELL TYPE, but COPPER-FACE IT ONLY, at the order of Printers or Type-Founders. They will therefore direct the Founders with whom they deal to send their Type to us (the Patentees) to be Copper-faced, whichi, when finished, will be forwarded at once to its destination. Payment can be made to the Founders, or directly to this Company.
