BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU

To Protect You

The Boston Better Business Bureau protects the public FIRST-and we do it without charging a penny. Business institutions become mem- bers of the Bureau and make this service possible because they know that the work we do increases confidence in the advertising and busi- ness of reputable concerns in Greater Boston.

It is our job to assist legitimate adver- tisers to keep advertising accurate and truthful. Inaccurate or misleading ad- vertising, even when unintentional, injures public GOOD WILL.

Fake directory schemes are varied and numerous. There are also many business direc- tories, which, while not legally fraudulent, are so incomplete in their listings or distribution as to be of little value. Honest and well-managed business directories are good advertis- ing media and appropriations for this form of advertising should not be diverted to questionable schemes.

We gather information about question- able investment propositions, so that you can come to an impartial agency and get accurate information to protect yourself, without charge. We advocate "Before You Invest-Investigate." We have nothing to sell and therefore do not recommend or deprecate any particular financial venture. We give the facts, but do not state opinions.

We investigate suit clubs, free lot schemes, picture enlarging schemes, fraudulent peddlers, fake auction sales, crooked fi- nancial projects, "going out of business' sales that are not bona fide, exaggerated value claims, etc.

All this is done to protect the public and legiti- mate business.

Help us to protect the public and to keep Boston a good place in which to trade.

There is no Charge to the Public for Bureau Services

BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU

And Your Savings

Over One Thousand Greater Boston Business Concerns maintain the Boston Bureau so that you may have at your disposal an impartial organization to which to go for information about any questionable financial or merchandise offer.

To strengthen public confidence in legitimate business, the Bureau also wel- comes justified complaints regarding questionable or fraudulent advertising or financial promotions.

Practically every field of business is represented in the Bureau membership.

The Bureau is an independent, non- stock, non-profit membership corpora- tion organized under the laws of Massa- chusetts.

Its objects are to-

Protect the Public from fraud and deceit.

Increase public confidence in advertising and selling.

Protect legitimate business from unfair competition.

Move constructively against nefarious practices in busi- ness.
