KIMBALL & HEBARD'S PATENT IMPROVED WINDOW EXTENSION SCREEN AND MOSQUITO BAR.
NI !!-
mill
SHOWING THE SCREEN SHUT DOWN.
A Long-felt Want Supplied. Best and Cheapest to be found anywhere.
Messrs. KIMBALL & HEBARD, having secured the above patent, dated 4th Jannary. 1870, No. 98.601, would respectfully direct public attention to it, it being undoubtedly far superior to any article of a similar nature at present in the market. It needs only a single glance to perceive the peculiar advantages to be derived from this invention. By a beautiful, but, at the same time, most simple arrangement, it can be adjusted WITHOUT ADDITIONAL EXPENSE, so as to fit any window. and hence will be a great desideratum, even for this reason only, to those who from the nature of their employment or other canses, are compelled to change their place of residence frequently. A margin of eight inches is allowed to each screen for lateral contraction or expansion, as may be required.
When once adjusted, the screen, which is supplied with a self-acting roll, can, if desired. be allowed to remain for any length of time, the protection afforded by its case being quite sufficient to prevent any injury by the weather. Special care has also been taken to prevent the warping of any part in any climate.
When the window is opened, the screen nurolls, completely covering the space: allowing. how- ever. a free circulation of air. and at the same time excluding such unwelcome visitors as Mosqui- tos. Flies. &c .; when closed, the screen disappears. By detaching the case from the sill, the screen remains encased on the sash. and the window can be used as if no screen were attached.
These screens will be made of first-class materials, selected by the patentees themselves, so as to insure a good article being supplied to our enstomers.
All persons are cordially invited to inspect our articie before purchasingelsewhere. All orders addressed to the undersigned will receive prompt attention. and a liberal allowance made to the trade.

PATENT PAPERED WOOD HANGINGS.
WOOD HANGINGS are now manufactured with paper on the back. Since their first in- troduction this Paper Lining, with other IMPORTANT IMPROVEMENTS, has made them most practicable and desirable, and Architects and Builders generally are rapidly introduc- ing them, and conforming tireir pians to this mode of decoration.
HALLS, LIBRARIES, VESTIBULES, RECEPTION, DINING, DRAWING AND BATH- ROOMS, in the most costly houses, are constantly being finished, and a general satisfaction with its elegance and durability increases as the public become informed of its merits.
The Mason & Hamlin Organ Company, Boston, May 29, 1870.
CHAS. W. SPURR, Esq. Dear Sir,-It gives me pleasure to add a word to the many which have been spoken by others, in praise of the beautiful Wood Hangings manufactured by your Company. Those put up in the dining-room of my house in 1868 have ever since proved to my family a source of admiration, and I cannot see but that they are as fresh and as perfect to day as the day the workmen ieft them.
Yours truly, &c.,

CHAS. W. SPURR, Esq. Dear Sir, -I have your favor of the 1st, referring to your Wood Hangings. About a year since I had it used in the dining-room and halis of my house, and to date I am perfectly satisfied with it in every particular. Very truly, JOHN S. DUNLAP.

C. W. SPURR, Esq., - In regard to your Wood Paper, for dadoing and papering walls, my experience with it has been entirely satisfactory, and it will, without doubt, in a short time entirely supersede all other modes of dadoing. Yours truly, RUFUS S. GILMORE.
Transcript Office, Boston, May 10, 1870.
CHAS. W. SPURR, Esq. Dear Sir, - The Wood Hangings you put up in my house, No. 14 Montgomery Street, have stood the test of two years' use, to the entire satisfaction of th family. It is as firm on the wall as the day yon left it. The heat or moisture has not caused the wood to peei in a single spot, and I see no reason wiry it will not remain so for years. I can cheerfully recommend its use to ail, in preference to paper in a dining-room.
Respectfully and truly yours, H. W. DUTTON.
112 Beacon Street, Boston, April 9, 1870.
C. W. SPURR, Esq. Dear Sir, -Having tried your Wood Hangings, I have found them satisfactory in every respect, and you can refer to me whenever you may desire to do so. And I remain, yours very respectfully, A. T. PERKINS.

MRS. PAIGE'S NEW METHOD
FOR THE PIANO,
Recently published by Oliver Ditson & Co.
Is the best book in the market of the kind, it being a key to all other similar books.
MRS. PAIGE will impart instruction to pupils at The Studio, both in private and in classes. Teachers fitted in a remarkably short time.
Music Teachers can now be instructed in the New Method by the Quarter. Room and Piano furnished to pupils from a distance. Address, with stamp for circular, Mrs. J. B. PAIGE Musical Studio, 616 Tremont Street, or enquire at Oliver Ditson's 277 Washington Street, Boston.
From The Boston Pilot, July 23, 1870.
MRS. PAIGE'S SYSTEM. - Mrs. Paige, who some years since invented a new and wonderful way of teaching the piano-forte, and whose scholars have made such remarkable progress, has been persuaded to put the first part of her method in book-form, so as to be more generally accessible. Teachers should not fail to give the work a thorough examination. It is filled with useful, well arranged exercises, invented for the new system. By a few weeks' practice of these exercises, pupils find theinselves com- petent to play pieces, which formerly were out of their reach until the second year of study. The book is published in handsome style by Oliver Ditson & Co.
From The Boston Evening Traveller, June, 1870.
One of the most valuable musical publications of the day is Mrs. J. B. Paige's " New Inductive and Eclectic Method for the Piano-forte," which is being universally adopted. Its value is to be found in a peculiar system of finger-training, by which the pupil acquires remarkable control of the keys of the instrument, great facility of execution, and familiarity with every scale. Besides, the pupil is soon, by the relations of tones, the formation of cards and their legitimate keys, made acquainted with the art of thorough bass and science of harmony and composition. The work is published and for sale by Oliver Ditson & Co.
From The Massachusetts Ploughman, June 25, 1870.
NEW PIANO INSTRUCTION BOOK .- We call attention to the advertisement of " Mrs. J. B. Paige's New Instructive and Eclective Method for the Piano- forte," published by Oliver Ditson & Co., Boston. It is based on wide ex . perience, and profound study of the methods of teaching : and it has several new, distinctive, and valuable features ; and, in those particulars, it is far in advance of any system for the piano-forte yet presented.

ADVERTISING DEPARTMENT.
From The Boston Reflector.
OLIVER DITSON & Co. have published " Mrs. J. B. Paige's New Induc- tive and Eclectic Method for the Piano-forte." Mrs. Paige has long been known to the public as a teacher of a new method for the piano,- one entirely her own, and claiming the virtue of an explicit mastery of the whole art in an extraordinary short space of time. This method she has now given to the public ; and we must say that her book is unlike any other instruction book for the piano. It is certainly very novel, and comprises much of the theory and science of music, combined with piano instruction.
From The Saturday Evening Express, June, 1870.
MRS. PAIGE'S SYSTEM OF MUSIC .- We have received a copy of Mrs. Paige's book, entitled "New Inductive and Eclective Method for the Piano-forte," which is handsomely got up, and will be sure to make a com- plete revolution in the science of music. It embodies the labor of years,- Mrs. Paige having devoted all the energy of the best part of her life to its completion,- and the result is one of the best books of the kind ever pub- lished. Parents teachers, and scholars will gladly welcome the instructions contained in this book as a relief from the drudgery of the old system. We shall examine it thoroughly, and give it a more extended notice hereafter. For sale by Ditson & Co., at a low price for the character of the book.
