HOPKINS CLASSICAL SCHOOL,
ON
DANA HILL.
THE design of this School is, not only to prepare boys for the University, but also, to fit them for any of the various departments of life. Untiring efforts are made to lead the pupils to the foundation of those habits of diligence, cheer- ful submission to jusi authority, and proper regard for the riglite and feelings of others, so essential to the character of a good citizen and agreeable neighbor. No scholar will be retained, after it has become evident that he is receiving no benefit himself or is inflicting positive injury upon oth- ers. The most perfect frankness will, at all times be used, in communicating to parents the faults, as well as the virtues of their children, hoping thus, to secure their co-operation in correcting the one, or in establishing the other. Grate- ful, for the constantly increasing patronage bestowed upon the School for the last six years, the subscriber assures all those parents, who continue to entrust their children to his charge, that no efforts will be spared, on his part, to render the school all that can be desired.

To classes, either at their residence or his own, as it may be most convenient for them.
Proficiency in this most useful accomplishment, which is deemed so necessary a part of an European education, may be attained by a little time and study; and there are but few in the world, who have not, some time or other, seen a face or a landscape, whose features they would wish to copy if they had the skill. HANKS' IMPROVED AIR HEATER.
For warming Public and Private Buildings of all Kinds.
COMBINING more advantages than any article of the kind now in use. As the locomotive boiler is in economical and effective service, when compared with other boilers, so is this Improved Air Heater, when compared with other Heaters, now so generally used by the community at large.
1st. It will radiate more heat with a given quantity of fuel, than any other apparatus now in use for the same pur- pose.
2d. It is perfectly accessible at all times, and may be cleared of ashes and soot, either when in operation or not, by simply removing the rear plate of the Radiator.
3d. All the coal it may contain can always be seen by looking in at the " feeding door;" thus it may at once be known if the quantity and quality of coal is as it should be.
4th. It is so constructed that the required quantity of heat can always be had and controlled, diminished or increased at pleasure, with a corresponding consumption of fuel.
Air-Tight Quick Oven Stoves,
FOR COOKING WITH COAL OR WOOD. The best oven is that which will bake meat or bread, in the shortest possible time, without burning. Meat baked in this way, has all that sweetness of flavor so peculiar to meat roasted in a tin oven, and the bread retains all the freshness of the grain.
A slow, sluggish oven, parboils before browning, which accounts for that close, confined, sweaty taste of meat, so unpleasant to the epicure, when baked in a slow oven .- Bread baked in a slow oven is merely kilu dried, the crust browned and dried from a quarter to an inch into the body of the loaf.
This Stove has been called the Quick Oven, for the rea- son that it will bake in as short a time as may be required. It can also be made so slow as to bake the most delicate cake. Bake quick or slow, at pleasure, and all this can be done without turning the articles.
It is better than a brick oven, for the reason that it can be made to bake quick or slow, and it will bake in every res- pect as well. For sale at D. PROUTY & Co.'s

THE MEDAL STOVE.
THE MADEIRA PARLOR COAL STOVE.
HAS now been before the public so long, that its mer- its are fully known and its superiority acknowledged. It is a handsome stove, be- ing of cylindrical form, and ornamented in a very taste- ful manner. It is economi- cal. From a ton to a ton and a half of nut coal will go through the season. It may truly be called the poor man's stove. It gives a pe- culiarly pleasant heat, pro- ducing in every part of the room a summer atmosphere. This effect is secured by the free circulation of air through the internal columns and chambers of the stove, and the dullness and head- ache so often occasioned by close coal stoves, is not experi- enced in the least. It requires but little tending. The fire is kindled with ease, and if properly looked to, will not go ont from week to week. A moment's attention on going to bed, ensures a bright fire in the morning. Not the least of its recommendations is its freedom from dust. 'Tne arrange- ment for clearing the stove is such that not a particle of ashes need to come into the room.
At the Mechanic's Fair, held recently in this city, only one Stove received a Medal, and that the Committe award- ed to the MADEIRA PARLOR STOVE-a Silver Medal.
Persons in want of an article upon which they can rely, will do well to call before purchasing.
Every Stove put up by ourselves, warranted to suit, or the money refunded.
