OBSERVATIONS. - Having a blank space here, we may as well improve it to make some observations, to which the attention of our good citizens is respectfully invited. First, we have five instances of two streets claiming the same name; and in one instance a favorite name is claimed by three streets, - one in each Ward, - evinc- ing, we think, a poverty in nomenclature of which the rich and intellectual city of Cambridge ought to be - ashamed. We hope that early attention will be given to this matter, so that when we issue a new Directory we may not be forced to use so many of these " vain repetitions as the heathen do." Another evil is the want of sign-boards. A stranger cannot find his way in Cambridge without making frequent inquiries. Now we protest against this system of locomotive sign-boards, and insist that every street should have its name displayed in plain letters at the principal crossings. One year ought to suffice to work a reform in these things.
