The Hospital offers accommodation for the treatment of 250 patients, who may be admitted on application to Dr. Thomas Howell, Superintendent. Preference is given to those who are dependent upon the city for support; accommodations are provided for private patients.
There are nine Trustees of the City Hospital chosen by the City Council in concurrence, in January, as follows: One from the Board of Aldermen, and two from the Common Council, for one year, and six from the citizens at large, for six years.

This Hospital for cases of diphtheria and scarlet fever only, is under control of the Board of Health, and was opened November, 1896. It has accommodations for the treatment of forty patients, who may be admitted on application to the Board of Health, or to Dr. Holmes, Superin- tendent.

The Worcester Insane Hospital, a State institution, was opened January 18, 1833, and has received 24,840 patients. At present there are 1120 inmates.
WORCESTER INSANE ASYLUM.

The Worcester Insane Asylum was established in accordance with an Act of the Legislature in 1877, and was opened October 23, 1877. The inmates of the Asylum consist only of such insane as may be transferred thereto from other Hospitals by the State Board of Insanity.
