February 15, 1909.

To the voters of the Town of Palmer :

The repairs of the highways of the town the past year have been by use of the road machine to a much larger mileage than ever before, and graveling from Three Rivers toward Thorndike, in the Depot village on Park, Walnut, Converse, Central and Main streets. I think it would be of advantage for the town to purchase gravel banks in the different villages for the use of the bighway depart- ment. The bridge account shows an apparent overdraft of $111.84. This is to be met by receipts from others town for their share of the work done. There is due this account $166.36, which makes the net expense $945.48.

The sewer and culvert account is to be credited with $4.50, the expense of a connection which has been paid, which leaves the net expense $999.05. The sewer on Maple street has been extended about 600 feet, the one on North Main street to Holbrook street about 400 feet.

I would recommend the following appropriations :

Highways,

$5,000.00

Sewers and Culverts, 1,000.00

Bridges, 1,000.00

Sidewalks (repairs),

1,000.00

Railings,

400.00

Respectfully submitted,

CHAS. T. BRAINERD, Highway Surveyor.
