Report of the Committee on Claims

The Committee on Claims would respectfully report that the only matter which has required attention from them during the last year has been the litigation with the town of Concord, arising from the constant decrease in the waters of Sandy Pond. It is very apparent that the cal- culations hitherto made have been inaccurate, and that the present draught made upon the pond by the two towns is more than it can supply. The matter is in the hands of Hon. Nathan Matthews, who has been having careful examinations made, and who expects that the case will be brought to trial during the present spring. It is hoped that some order will be made that will prevent a serious disaster, which we think is inevitable, if the pres- ent condition of things continues.

MOORFIELD STOREY, CHARLES S. WHEELER, JULIUS E. EVELETH.

Water Commissioners' Report

The Water Commissioners herewith present their annual report.

At the last Annual Town Meeting it was voted to in- stall water meters on the the pumping main and distribut- ing main. In accordance with this vote, orders were placed with the Builders' Iron Foundry of Providence, R. I., for one 12-inch and one 8-inch Venturii Meter, the same to be delivered as soon as possible; but owing to de- lay in the delivery and setting of the same, the meters were not in running order until late in the fall.

The pumps and boilers at the Pumping Station are in excellent condition, the Deane Pump having been thor- oughly overhauled during the year.

As directed by the Town last year, the Commissioners have collected all of the water rates now due.

There have been four new services added during the year. Included in this report is a detailed account of the expenses of the year, a list of the stock and tools on hand and appended is the Treasurer's Report, the Profit and Loss Account, and the indebtedness of the Water Works.

Owing to the fact that the bill from the Highway De- partment for teaming was not presented until after the books were closed, this item does not appear in the ac- count.
