ESSEX, SS. To either of the Constables of the Town of Andover, GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Andover qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet and assemble at the Town House in said Andover, on Monday, the Second day of March, 1885, at 12 o'clock, M., to act on the following Articles, namely :
Article 1st. - To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.
Article 2d. - To choose Town Clerk, Treasurer, Collec- tor of Taxes, Selectmen, Assessors, Overseers of the Poor, One member of the School Committee for Three Years, One Trustee of Memorial Hall for Seven Years, Constables, Fence Viewers, Road Commissioners or Highway Surveyors, and all other Town Officers.
Article 3d. - To see what action the Town will take on the following question : "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this Town ?" "The vote shall be by separate ballot; and the ballot shall be 'Yes' or 'No'; and in taking said vote the check-list shall be used."
Article 4th. - To see what action the Town will take in regard to unexpended appropriations.
Article 5th. - To see what sums of money the Town will

appropriate for the use of the several Departments the cur- rent year, namely : Schools, School-houses, School Books and Supplies, Highways and Bridges, Sidewalks, Removing Snow, Town Officers, Town House, Fire Department, Street Lamps, Printing and Stationery, Spring Grove Cemetery, Decoration Day, State Aid, Indigent Soldiers and Sailor's Aid, Almshouse, Relief out of Almshouse, Repairs on Alms- house, Hay Scales, State Tax, County Tax, Adjustment of Taxes, Discount on Taxes, Abatement of Taxes, Interest on Notes and Funds, Insurance, and Miscellaneous.
Article 6th. - To see if the Town will authorize the Town Treasurer to hire money for the use of the Town when necessary, upon the approval of the Selectmen.
Article 7th. - To see what method the Town will take for the collection of Taxes the current year.
Article 8th. - To see what compensation the Town will pay the Firemen for their services the current year.
Article 9th. - To see if the Town will revise and accept the List of names for Jurors, as prepared and posted by the Selectmen.
Article 10th. - To see if the Town will vote to pay the Dog- License money received from the County Treasury to the Treasurer of the Memorial Hall, to aid in supporting the Library and Reading-room. ·
Article 11th. - To hear and act on the Report of the Selectmen.
Article 12th. - To see if the Town will accept and allow a way laid out by the Selectmen, on petition of Moses Foster and others, leading from Main Street, near the east end of Marland Street, across land of Moses T. Stevens, to a point on Marland Street west of the mill-pond, as particularly

described in the Report of the Selectmen, duly filed in the Town Clerk's office February 12th, 1885 ; and appropriate a sum of money therefor.
Article 13th. - To see if the Town will discontinue so much of the old town way known as Marland Street as lies north of the new way laid out by the Selectmen February 2d, 1885.
Article 14th. - To see if the Town will accept and allow a way laid out by the Selectmen, on petition of E. K. Jenkins and others, leading from Elm Street to Park Street, across lands of E. K. Jenkins, George T. Abbott, and William Wood, and appropriate a sum of money therefor.
Article 15th. - To see if the Town will vote to purchase a Hook and Ladder Truck for the use of the Andover Fire Department, and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars therefor, on petition of William S. Jenkins and others.
Article 16th. - To see if the Town will vote to purchase a Steam Fire Engine for Ballard Vale, and appropriate a sum of money therefor, on petition of Joseph Kintz and others.
Article 17th .- To see if the Town will vote to enlarge the Culvert under Summer Street near the houses of C. M. Baldwin, and build up the mouth of the reservoir at same place to the level of the sidewalk, and appropriate a sum of money therefor, on petition of C. M. Baldwin and others.
Article 18th. To see if the Town will vote to procure a Supply of Water for fire-extinguishing purposes from the Trustees pond, as proposed in plan by Charles W. Gay, and appropriate a sum of money therefor.
Article 19th. - To see if the Town will vote to build a Reservoir on Salem Street, and appropriate a sumi of money therefor, on petition of James P. Butterfield and others.

Article 20th. -- To see if the Town will vote to build a Reservoir on East Green Street, near the house of John Lynch, and appropriate a sum of money therefor, on petition of Francis Williamson and others.
Article 21st. - To see if the Town will amend its By-Laws relating to calling Town Meetings.
Article 22d. - To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation to defray the necessary expenses the current year.
Article 23d. - To transact any other business that may legally come before the meeting.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, at the time and place of meeting.
