The pipe lines and reservoir are in good condition. The reservoir was cleaned and pipe lines thoroughly flushed in June.

The Blake Pump needs some overhauling, portions of the piping at the Pumping station need renewing. The front and north sides of the coal shed were raised and braced early ·in the spring so that the shed has answered the requirements for the year, it will be necessary to repair the west side and build a new platform before putting in another supply of coal. While it is perfectly feasible to store coal without covering under many conditions, it would be extremely difficult for one man to run the pumping station and wheel in his coal when it was frozen under two or three feet of snow.

Sewers

Three hundred and four feet of six-inch sewer was laid on Abbot street, completing the sewer from School to Phillips street.

An overflow sewer eight inches in diameter has been put in from the pump house on Phillips street to an overflow cesspool on land of L. F. Hitchcock, Central street, the total length is 1122 feet.

Thirty applications for house connections were received and 29 connections laid during 1904. Total number of applications to date, 438.

Total number of connections to date, 419.

Length of connections laid during 1904, 1065 feet.

Total length of connections in service, 26328 feet.

The severe rain storms of last spring caused a serious washout on the high banks of beds Numbers 14 and 15, necessitating the replacing of about 1000 cu. yds. fill. The system as a whole is in good condition. I would again call your attention to the need of another sludge bed.

Respectfully submitted,

JOHN E. SMITH.
