REPORT OF THE INSPECTOR OF ANIMALS


27 Sampson Place, Braintree, Mass., Dec. 20, 1926.


To the honorable board of Selectmen,


of the Town of Braintree.


Gentlemen: In making the annual inspection of animals for the year 1926, I visited 106 places where animals are kept and I found 365 cows 29 young cattle,. 2 bulls, 865 swine, 10 goats. I found no oxen nor sheep. I also inspected hens and found them in very good condition. There seems to be a general improve- ment in the condition in which these animals are kept. today, over the past.


There has been no cases of rabbies among dogs reported to me this year.

REPORT OF THE INSPECTOR OF MEATS, PRO- VISIONS AND SLAUGHTERING


Braintree, December 31, 1926.


To the Board of Health of the Town of Braintree.


Gentlemen: I have the honor of submitting to you my annual report of inspection of meats, provi- sions and slaughtering for the year ending December 31, 1926.


I have inspected during the past year 197 animal carcasses and from that number I have stamped for approval 196 as food, and condemned as unfit for con- sumption 1 hog, 7 livers.


The usual inspection of markets and meats and fish pedlers has been made.


I wish to take this opportunity to publicly thank the members of the Board of Health for their hearty co-operation during my term of office, from which of- fice I resigned the first of January.

REPORT OF THE WATER COMMISSIONERS.


The Board of Water Commissioners submit here- with the Annual Report of the Water Department of the year ending December 31, 1926.


Work on 8 inch main on West Street authorized by Vote on Article 79 in Annual Town Meeting of 1924, and Article 82 in Annual Town Meeting of 1925, has been completed.


Work on Standpipe and Main pipe as authorized by Vote on Article 95 in Annual Town Meeting of 1926, and as amended by Vote of Special Town Meet- ing held July 26 1926. The Main pipe line is ex- tended to within 200 feet of the Standpipe and this is mostly ledge work. The Standpipe with the excep- tion of painting will be finished by the time the Voters read this report. Expenditures under this ar- ticle will be within the appropriation.


Last Annual Report we stated that preparations were being made to install a new pumping unit at Great Pond Station. Electric driven Centrifugal pump of one and one half million gallons capacity has been installed and will be ready for operation when this re- port goes to press. Total cost not to exceed $6,185.00.
