appropriated for the use of the Municipal Light Plant the whole to be ex- pended under the direction and control of the Municipal Light Board for repairs, renewals, new construction and operating expenses of the Plant for the fiscal year, as defined in Section 57, Chapter 164 General Laws and that if said income shall exceed the expense for the fiscal year such amount of excess as is deemed necessary by the Municipal Light Board shall be transferred to the construction fund of said plant and appropriated and shall be used for such additions to the plant as may thereafter be authorized by the Municipal Light Board and any remaining amount paid into the surplus of the Town Treasury .- So voted.
ARTICLE 16. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for the eradication and prevention of "Dutch Elm" disease, so-called, or take any action rela- tive thereto .- No action.
ARTICLE 17. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for the control of mosquitoes by Aerial Spraying, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That the Moderator appoint a committee of three; one to be selected from each of the three sections of our Town known as South Braintree, North Braintree and East Braintree, to study various methods of controlling and eliminating mosquitoes; and that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the 1950 Annual Town Meeting.
ARTICLE 18. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to reimburse the Thomas Worcester Construction Company for the cost of constructing a sewer in Elm Street, or take any action rela- tive thereto .- No action.
ARTICLE 19. To see if the Town will vote to establish a planning board in accordance with Section 81-A of Chapter 41 of the General Laws, as inserted by Section 4 of Chapter 340 of the Acts of 1947 and provide that the members of the planning board then in office shall serve as mem- bers of the planning board under said section until the next Annual Town Meeting .- So voted.
ARTICLE 20. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of constructing, furnishing and equipping a building for a new Public Library and to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow all or any part of said sum, in accord- ance with any General or Special Act authorizing the Town to borrow money for such purposes, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $500.00 for the purpose of preparing suitable plans and specifications of a new public library, said sum to be expended under the direction of a committee ap- pointed by the Moderator composed of five members, two to be selected from the Board of Library Trustees and one to be a building contractor or estimator, said committee to report to a future Town Meeting, but no later than the next Annual Town Meeting the results of its study and its recom- mendations for the proposed Central Library Building including the esti-

mated cost of the completed project. Said sum is to be raised by a transfer of $498.00 from "Toilets Highlands Branch Library" and $2.00 from the tax levy.
ARTICLE 21. To see if the Town will vote to amend Par. 1, Section 1 of the Zoning By-Law so that the Zoning Map dated May 2, 1940, as pre- viously amended, be changed to provide that the "zoning" of the following described areas be changed as follows:
a. East Braintree-from Residence B to Industrial-the property on the easterly side of Vinedale. Road beginning at the property line between parcels 48 and 49 as shown on Assessors' map No. 3038, and extending northerly along the easterly side of Vinedale Road to Audubon Avenue, then extending easterly along the southerly side of Audubon Avenue to the Weymouth Fore River and to include all lands between the de- scribed portions of Vinedale Road, Audubon Avenue and the Weymouth Fore River, and then on the northerly side of Audubon Avenue from the property line of parcels 50 and 51 as shown on Assessors' map No. 3040, then easterly along Audubon Avenue to the Weymouth Fore River and then on the southerly side of Trefton Drive from the property line between par- cels 69 and 70 as shown on Assessors' map No. 3040 and extending easterly to the Weymouth Fore River, to include all lands between the described area.
b. North Braintree-the extension of the present business area to in- clude both sides of Storrs Avenue from Washington Street westerly on Storrs Avenue to a point 120 feet beyond Dearing Avenue and secondly extending the business district on Washington Street, both sides, southerly from Storrs Avenue to Clark Street, to include the Telephone building on one side and the Funeral Parlor on the opposite side and in each instance to the depth of the property line.
c. South Braintree-the extension of the business district on both sides of Washington Street from South Braintree Square northerly to French's Common on one side and to and including property to No. 812 Washington Street on the other side, and also, extending the business dis- trict on both sides of Washington Street going westerly from South Braintree Square to and including the property on Washington Street to the corner of Tremont Street on one side and to/and including the property known as the "Merriam Block" on the opposite side, also changing to a business district the easterly side of Central Street from Summer Street to Taylor Street, and in each instance to the depth of the property line.
Voted: To strike out Paragraph a. Paragraphs b and c unanimously carried.
ARTICLE 22. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of constructing a new elementary school building and for originally equipping same; determine how the money shall be provided for, by borrowing, by appropriation from available funds in the Treasury, by appropriation from the Post-War Rehabilitation Fund, and/or from the Stabilization Fund, or take any action relative thereto.

Voted: That the sum of $700,000.00 be raised and appropriated for the purpose of constructing a new elementary school building and for origi- nally equipping and furnishing the same, and to meet the said appropriation that the sum of $9,219.86 be appropriated from available funds in the Treasury and the sum of $20,780.14 be appropriated from the Post-War Fund, and that the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $670,000.00 of which $300,000.00 is borrowed in accord with Chapter 78 of Laws of 1949, and $370,000.00 under Chapter 44, General Laws, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, payable in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 of the General Laws so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than 20 years from the date of issue of the first bond or note or at such earlier time as the Treasurer and Selectmen may determine, and that the Committee, appointed pursuant to vote under Article 33 and 34 of the Warrant for the 1948 Annual Town Meeting, be and hereby is authorized to act for and in behalf of the Town with full power to employ architects, secure bids and let contracts in the name of the Town and to do all and any acts necessary to construct and equip said building within the aforesaid appropriation.
ARTICLE 23. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of remodelling, reconstructing or repairing one or more of the elementary schools; determine how the money shall be provided for, by borrowing, by appropriation from available funds in the Treasury, by appropriation from the Post-War Rehabilitation Fund, and/or from the Stabilization Fund, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That the sum of $3,000.00 be appropriated from available funds for the purpose of remodeling, reconstructing and equipping portions of the Hollis School building, under direction of the Committee appointed pursuant to vote under Article 33, 34 of the Warrant for the 1948 Annual Town Meeting, and that said committee be and hereby is authorized to act for and in behalf of the Town with full power to employ architects, secure bids, and let contracts in the name of the Town and to do all and any acts necessary to remodel, reconstruct and equip said building within the afore- said appropriation.
ARTICLE 24. To see if the Town will vote to purchase or take by eminent domain certain parcels or certain lots of land for school purposes. -No action.
ARTICLE 25. To see if the Town will vote to purchase or take by eminent domain a certain parcel of certain lots of land adjacent to the Abraham Lincoln School for school purposes, or take any action relative thereto.
Unanimously voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $2500.00 for the purchase or taking by eminent domain for school purposes the following described property: The land in that part of Braintree known as East Braintree lying between Hobart and North Bowditch Streets and bounded and described as follows: Easterly by Hobart Street 167 feet more or less; southerly by a private way shown on plan hereinafter referred to 326.1 feet more or less; westerly by North Bowditch Street about 83.35 feet; and northwesterly by land of the Town of Braintree being the Abra- ham Lincoln School Lot about 430 feet together with any rights of way

appurtenant to said land. Shown as plots 5 to 12 inclusive on Assessors Plan No. 3055 on file in the office of the Assessors of the Town of Brain- tree, Town House, South Braintree.
ARTICLE 26. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the preparation of plans, specifications, drawings and reports toward the constructing, remodeling, reconstructing, repairing or adding to school buildings, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That the sum of $1200.00 be appropriated from available funds for the preparation of plans, specifications, drawings, and reports toward the constructing, remodelling, reconstruction, repairing or adding to school buildings, under direction of the Committee appointed pursuant to the vote under Article 33, 34 of the Warrant for the 1948 Annual Town Meeting and that said Committee be and hereby is authorized to act for and in behalf of the Town with full power to employ architects, consult- ants, secure bids in the name of the Town and to do all and any acts neces- sary toward securing the above mentioned plans, specifications, drawings, and reports within the aforesaid appropriation.
ARTICLE 27. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to purchase, install and maintain in some Town owned building an incinerator for the disposal of dead animals by cremation, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $727.70, the same to be expended under the direction of Board of Health for the pur- chase, installation and maintenance in some Town owned building of an incinerator for the disposal of dead animals by cremation.
ARTICLE 28. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for the personal services and expenses of some person designated by the Board of Health to pick up dead animals and take them to the incinerator to be cremated, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $300.00 to be expended by the Board of Health for the personal services and expenses of some person designated by that Board to pick up dead animals and. take them to the incinerator for cremation, said person to assume full opera- tional responsibilities of the incinerator.
ARTICLE 29. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for acquiring land on the easterly side of Railroad Street between Elm and River Streets for a public parking place, or take any action relative thereto .-- No action.
ARTICLE 30. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate any sum or sums of money to be expended under the direction of the Board of Assessors for the purpose of making a revaluation of all property within the Town.
Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $35,000.00 to be expended under the direction of the Board of Assessors for the pur- pose of making a revaluation of all property within the Town, excluding

industrial properties- said sum to be taken from available funds in the treasury.
ARTICLE 31. To see if the Town will vote to appoint a Committee to study the present Building Code for the purpose of amending, modifying or repealing any article or articles in said Building Code to bring same up to date.
Voted: That the Moderator appoint a committee of not less than three nor more than five members to study the present Building Code for the purpose of amending, modifying or repealing any article or articles in said Building Code to bring the same up-to-date, said committee to report its findings at a future Town Meeting.
ARTICLE 32. To see if the Town will vote to abate, to instruct or urge the Assessors to abate, or in any way take such action as may be lawful to reduce or eliminate in whole or in part the taxes assessed or to be assessed locally to the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad or the Old Colony Railroad, or take any action relative thereto .- No action.
ARTICLE 33. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for project mainte- nance and repairs at "Union Village," so-called, and other expenses not chargeable to Federal Funds including playground supervision, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $1,000.00 to be used at "Union Village" so-called, for the following purposes: Play- ground Supervision $300.00; Playground Equipment $200.00; Roads, park- ing space and fencing $500.00; and that to meet said appropriation the sum of $24.38 . shall be raised by transfer from "Union Village Playground Equipment", $928.59 from Committee on Town Development and $47.03 from the tax levy.
ARTICLE 34. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for costs and ex- penses of the Braintree Housing Authority, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $500.00 for costs and expenses of the Braintree Housing Authority.
ARTICLE 35. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to lay out as and for a Town Way, Columbia Terrace, so-called, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That the Selectmen be authorized to lay out as and for a Town Way, Columbia Terrace, so-called.
ARTICLE 36. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to lay out as and for a Town Way, Lancaster Road, so-called, or take any action relative thereto.

ARTICLE 37. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Gordon Road, so-called, as laid out by the Selectmen, and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto .- No action.
ARTICLE 38. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Howard Court, so-called, as laid out by the Selectmen, and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That Howard Court, so-called, as laid out by the Selectmen be accepted as and for a Town Way, that the sum of $1,737.00 be raised and appropriated for the improvement of the same and that betterments be assessed to the extent of 66 2/3% of the cost of said improvement.
ARTICLE 39. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Glenrose Avenue from Ferncroft Road to Venus Road, as laid out by the Selectmen, and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto .- No . action.
ARTICLE 40. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Ferncroft Road, so-called, from Pleasant View Avenue to Glenrose Avenue, as laid out by the Selectmen, and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That Ferncroft Road, so-called, from Pleasant View Avenue to Glenrose Avenue, as laid out by the Selectmen be accepted as and for a Town Way, that the sum of $667.50 be raised and appropriated for the im- provement of the same and that betterments be assessed to the extent of 66 2/3% of the cost of said improvement.
ARTICLE 41. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Patten Avenue, so-called, as laid out by the Selectmen, and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That Patten Avenue, so-called, as laid out by the Selectmen, be accepted as and for a Town Way, that the sum of $1,746.00 be raised and appropriated for the improvement of the same and that betterments be assessed to the extent of 66 2/3% of the cost of said improvement.
ARTICLE 42. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept as and for a Town Way, Nickerson Road, so-called, from Commercial Street about 535 feet in an easterly direction, as laid out by the Selectmen, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That Nickerson Road, so-called, from Commercial Street about 535 feet in an easterly direction, as laid out by the Selectmen, be accepted as and for a Town Way.
ARTICLE 43. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Waldron Road, so-called, from Beals Street about 300 feet in a westerly direction, as laid out by the Selectmen, or take any action relative thereto.

ARTICLE 44. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Plymouth Avenue, so-called, from Washington Street about 285 feet in a westerly direction, as laid out by the Selectmen or take any action relative thereto.

ARTICLE 45. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Thetford Avenue, so-called, about 550 feet in an easterly direc- tion from Sycamore Road, as laid out by the Selectmen, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That Thetford Avenue, so-called, about 550 feet in an east- erly direction from Sycamore Road, as laid out by the Selectmen, be ac- cepted as and for a Town Way.
ARTICLE 46. To see if the Town will vote to accept the relocation of a portion of Common Street as laid out by the Selectmen on plan dated January, 1949, by John J. Drinkwater, Town Engineer, and authorize the Selectmen, in the name of the Town, to take by eminent domain such land as may be required in connection with said acceptance, or take any action relative thereto.
Unanimously voted: That the relocation of a portion of Common Street as laid out by the Selectmen on a plan dated January, 1949, by John J. Drinkwater, Town Engineer, be accepted and that the Selectmen in the name of the Town be authorized to take by eminent domain such land as may be required in connection with such acceptance.
ARTICLE 47. To see if the Town will vote to accept Elliot Street from Birchcroft Road to the end of the Layout just north of Stetson Street as shown on plan entitled "Town of Braintree Plan Showing Widening of a portion of Elliot St., John J. Drinkwater, Town Engineer", dated December, 1948, and authorize the Selectmen in the name of the Town, to take by eminent domain such land as may be required in connection with said acceptance, or take any action relative thereto .- No action necessary.
ARTICLE 48. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for the installation of a curbing on the east side of Vinedale Road from Pleasant View Avenue to Arborway Drive or take any action relative thereto .- No action neces- sary.
ARTICLE 49. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds for the macadamizing of sidewalks all around Parkside Circle, and the south end of Parkside Avenue, between Storrs Avenue and the end of Parkside Circle, or take any action relative thereto .- No action.
ARTICLE 50. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds a sum of money for the

construction of sidewalks on both sides of Cotton Avenue, or take any action relative thereto .- No action.
ARTICLE 51. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds a sum of money for the construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Edgehill Road from Quincy Avenue to Arthur Street, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That the sum of $1,160.00 be raised and appropriated for the construction of a suitable sidewalk on the south side of Edgehill Road from Quincy Avenue to Arthur Street, said sum to be expended only if the Selectmen in their order for said construction provide for the assessment of 50% of the cost thereof upon abutting estates.
ARTICLE 52. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds a sum of money for the construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Adams Street from the Fore River track to the Ford Motor, or take any action relative thereto .- No action necessary.'

To see if the Town will vote to authorize and instruct the Selectmen, or other proper authority, to convey to Bruno Miglorini or to the owner or owners of the premises now numbered 354 Pond Street, a triangular piece of land bounded and described as follows: Northeasterly by land now or formerly of Bruno Miglorini 17.50 feet; Southeasterly by land of the Town of Braintree 231 feet; Northwesterly by land of said Mig- lorini 232 feet. All is shown on plan entitled "Plan of Land in Braintree, Norfolk Co., Mass." dated Oct. 25, 1948, Frederick T. Webb, Registered Land Surveyor and containing according to said plan 2,010 square feet of land, more or less. The apex of the triangle above described is marked by a stone bound about three hundred and three and seven tenths (303.7) feet in a general southwesterly direction from said Pond Street.
Voted: That the Selectmen be authorized and instructed to convey to Bruno Miglorini or to the owner or owners of the premises now numbered 354 Pond Street, for the sale price of $1.00, a triangular piece of land bounded and described as follows: Northeasterly by land now or formerly of Bruno Miglorini, 17.50 feet; Southeasterly by land of the Town of Braintree 231 feet; Northwesterly by land of said Miglorini 232 feet. ARTICLE 54. To see what action the Town will take relative to the erection of a permanent stadium to be built with toilet facilities on Hollis Field, Braintree, to be known as the "Hollingsworth Memorial"; determine how the money shall be provided for, by borrowing, by appropriation from available funds in the Treasury, by appropriation from the Post-War Reha- bilitation Fund, by appropriation from the Hollingsworth Fund, and/or from the Stabilization Fund, or take any action relative thereto.
Unanimously voted: That there be appropriated the sum of $51,938.85 same to be raised by a transfer from the Post-War Hollingsworth Fund, said sum to be expended under the direction of a committee of five appointed

by the Moderator for the erection of a permanent stadium on Hollis Field to be known as the Hollingsworth Memorial Stadium, and that the Com- mittee named under said motion be directed to embody in the name of the memorial that it is dedicated to the heroes of the several wars and that the Committee properly designate it as such a memorial.
ARTICLE 55. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds a sum of money for the maintenance of the "First Parish Cemetery", so-called, on Elm Street, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 114 of the General Laws, or take any action relative thereto. -
Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $250.00 for the painting of the iron fence of the First Parish Cemetery, so-called, on Elm Street, Braintree, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 114 of the General Laws.
